Tottenham keen to add to £52 million German raid as deadline day draws near

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in RB Leipzig star Antonio Nusa

There is no doubt that Tottenham Hotspur have assembled quite a good team for Thomas Frank as they go into the 2025-26 season looking to build up on their UEFA Europa League success from the last season and landing another major trophy.

Spurs have brought in some exciting new players this summer, including the Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha and the winger Mohammed Kudus. However, they also saw important players like Son Heung-Min leave this summer and James Maddison suffering a serious injury in the preseason, that is likely to keep him out of action for almost the entirety of the season.

However, the North London side has already made their move to replace the English playmaker, as they brought in Xavi Simons in the very last stretch of the transfer window. The Lilywhites brought the Dutch international from RB Leipzig in exchange for £52 million.

There is no doubt that Simons is a very exciting addition to the Tottenham team, but the fans have reason to be even more excited, as a report from TeamTalk indicates that Spurs had also made inquiries about another forward from the German side while negotiating for Simons.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in RB Leipzig star Antonio Nusa.

Antonio Nusa could be a good addition to Thomas Frank’s team

This other player was the electric winger Antonio Nusa, who had joined Leipzig only last year from Club Brugge, and scored five goals and provided 8 assists in his first season with the Red Bull side in 40 appearances across all competitions.

The report has not revealed a lot of details about this operation, but if the North London team is actually working to get the winger, this move makes quite a lot of sense for them. With Simons, they have already secured a replacement for the injured Maddison and Kulusevski, as he is expected to play as a number 10.

On the other hand, the Lilywhites are still to replace Son in their squad, and Nusa would be an addition that can play right from his arrival on the right wing, competing for a starting spot with Brennan Johnson. For now, it remains to be seen how this story develops with the summer transfer window going to be closed in less than two days.
