Signing for Tottenham looks like an exciting option for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman
Tottenham’s search for a new forward goes on as we approach the business-end of the transfer window. The Lilywhites have already managed to land two attackers in Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons in the summer. But the North London club is still looking to bring in some more reinforcements to give Thomas Frank a solid chance of building on the Europa League success.
The Danish tactician has already relayed the same message that he is ‘happy’ with the forward line he has at his disposal at N17. As of now, Spurs’ attacking line consists of Dominic Solanke and Richarlison. And it is fair to say that both players need to have an impact on the pitch on consistent basis if they want to maintain their place under Thomas Frank.
The left-wing position also needs to be addressed quickly as Spurs do not have enough manpower there. As of now, Thomas Frank is heavily relying on Mathys Tel and Brennan Johnson to operate on the left-flank. But both players cannot be relied upon to perform week in week out if the Lilywhites want to compete hard on all four fronts. So, signing a versatile forward that can either play out wide, as a striker should be prioritised.

There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in a new forward before the transfer window shuts. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites want to bring in Atalanta star Ademola Lookman for this season. The Nigeria international has already made it clear that he wants to move to a new club, and Spurs have taken notice of that. The report also states that the Serie A outfit value him at €50m.
Now, John Wenham believes that Lookman would be a good addition to the Spurs squad if the Lilywhites sign him. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“Lookman, he would be very, very welcomed. I don’t know what that would say in terms of game time for Tel and Odobert if that were to happen. But I think he’s a very, very good player.”
The Lilywhite Rose owner added,
“Obviously, he has that Premier League experience as well, having come from the Charlton Academy. He’s a good player. Tottenham have looked at him for years and years.”
John Wenham believes that Ademola Lookman would be a welcome addition to the Spurs squad as he is a ‘very good’ player. However, the Lilywhite Rose owner raised concerns about Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert’s game time if the North London club did end up signing the Atalanta star. Wenham also believes that Lookman’s Premier League experience will help him settle in well at N17.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs make a move for the 27-year-old before the transfer deadline. The Nigeria international thrives as a second striker, but he can also play on the wing or a lone #9 up top. Given his versatility, do not be shocked if Daniel Levy does not try and lure the Atalanta star to come to N17 for this season.
