Ex-Spurs scout thinks Thomas Frank may have been frustrated over the failure of Tottenham bosses to sell Manor Solomon
Tottenham Hotspur improved their attacking options in the final hours of the summer transfer window, with Randal Kolo Muani joining on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Last week, Xavi Simons swapped RB Leipzig for Spurs, hoping to address the Thomas Frank-managed team’s creativity issues.
With two attackers arriving in the form of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani, the Lilywhites became ready for departures on the final day of the transfer window. Bryan Gil was sold to Girona for a fee worth €10m, while Manor Solomon was also granted the permission to leave.
Manor Solomon was deemed surplus to requirements by Thomas Frank. Crystal Palace had approached Tottenham over a season-long loan for the diminutive winger on the deadline day. However, the Israel international’s loan move to Crystal Palace collapsed, despite a deal sheet having been submitted to take the move beyond the stipulated time.
Fortunately, Villarreal came to the club and player’s rescue. Manor Solomon, who was weighing up his options in the final hours of the window, agreed to join the La Liga side a season-long loan.

Ex-scout feels Thomas Frank would have wanted Manor Solomon sold
Solomon has barely featured for Tottenham since he arrived at the club in 2023. The 26-year-old enjoyed a fantastic loan at Leeds United last season, helping Daniel Farke’s side achieve automatic promotion. He scored the crucial winner against Plymouth Argyle that helped Leeds United win the Championship title on goal difference.
The Whites wanted to sign the Israeli attacker permanently from Spurs upon their promotion to the top flight, but a move did not happen. Having spent large chunks of pre-season on the sidelines, a loan exit was the only option that remained open to Tottenham in the final days of the window.
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King feels the north London bosses’ failure to move on Solomon permanently from the books will have left Frank frustrated.
“You don’t want a player at your club who isn’t happy,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He isn’t going to be part of Frank’s plans for the future, and I would imagine he will be a little bit upset that Tottenham haven’t been able to sell him.
“The Bryan Gil sale for £8m isn’t going to write off the £52m for Simons.”

Solomon has no future at N17
It has become clear by now that Solomon has no future at Tottenham. The Hotspur Way chiefs would have certainly wanted to offload the Israeli winger permanently as the move has just not worked out, but as time passed by in the window, it became difficult to do that. Eventually, he left for Villarreal on loan after his proposed temporary move to Palace fell through.
After a strong loan spell with Leeds, many would have thought this summer was the best chance for the Lilywhites to get a decent fee from the speedy wide-man’s sale. Now that it hasn’t happened as perhaps planned, Spurs must now hope Solomon takes the La Liga by storm and Villarreal come calling to sign him permanently in 2026.
