Daniel Levy’s commitment towards commercialising the club held the Lilywhites back in more ways than one
Tottenham are going through some massive changes as the club prepares for a new era at N17. Earlier this week, the Lilywhites announced the departure of Daniel Levy out of nowhere. The Spurs chairman had been at the helm for almost 25 years, and it is fair to say that no fan was expecting the Englishman to depart at this point in time.
Well, many fans will argue that Levy did more harm than good for the North London club. And that might be true when it comes to performances and results on the pitch. But the fact of the matter is that the Englishman managed to make Tottenham a successful commercial club, with endless revenue streams and massive profit potential.

The constant protests held by the fans were due to Daniel Levy’s neglect shown towards the footballing side of things. Under him, the Lilywhites managed to win just two major trophies since the turn of the century. Considering the size and stature of the club, this is seen as a massive disappointment, and it left the club holding to the hope of one day winning the Premier League.
Tottenham need to take the final step now that Daniel Levy is gone
Tottenham’s state-of-the-art training centre and a world-class stadium show that the Lilywhites had all the potential to become a superpower of English football under Daniel Levy. But they never managed to cross the final hurdle and win trophies regularly. And that is mainly due to Levy’s incompetence and lack of investment in the squad.
However, Jamie O’Hara believes that the club can finally take the last step and reach the promised land now that Daniel Levy has departed N17. Speaking on Sky Sports (via X), O’Hara said,
“I think this is the first hurdle of the future of what Tottenham looks like in five or six years. Now I think that the club is primed in a position, with what they’ve got and the facilities that they’ve got, to go to the next level.”
The ex-Spurs player added,
“Can they win Premier League titles? The Champions League titles? Can they be that football club that competes? Because under Daniel Levy, when in the key moments there is an opportunity to push on the pitch to sign big players and go to the next level, that hasn’t happened.”
Jamie O’Hara believes Tottenham have successfully crossed the first hurdle towards long-term footballing success… Daniel Levy. The ex-player points out that the Lilywhites are ‘primed’ to win trophies consistently due to the world-class facilities and potential they have got. O’Hara urges Spurs to take the final step, something that the North London club failed to do under Levy’s leadership.

All eyes will be on Spurs and how they handle Daniel Levy’s departure. The North London club has the chance to build on Levy’s legacy by continuing to make profits on the commercial front. But they will now have an opportunity to also focus more on the footballing side of things and invest their money on one thing that matters the most… the squad.
