Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has been subject to external links with a move away from Hotspur Way in the recently concluded summer transfer window. He has been surplus to the requirements at N17, and the incoming head coach, Thomas Frank, has been looking to ship him off all summer.
But that didn’t happen as the window came to close in England. But given how the window is still open outside the English shores, there is still a chance, and the former Brighton ace’s future at Hotspur Way still remains in limbo.
Recently we saw that his proposed move to Fenerbahce collapsed at the final hurdle. The Turk giants had been looking to take the 29-year-old midfielder off of the Lilywhites’ books, but then they had some concerns over his fitness during medical tests, which pushed them to switch.
Bissouma had personal terms in place with Fenerbahçe
Now there have been reports from Takvim suggesting that Bissouma had already agreed to personal terms with Fenerbahçe. They were looking to bring him in, given how Fred is in his thirties and they need midfield reinforcements. But then he failed to convince club doctors of his readiness. This pushed the deal, which is now on the verge of being called off.
And in what comes as a massive frustration to a lot of Tottenham supporters, this leaves the North Londoners still having a player who was expected to be sold before the end of the summer.

The Mali international has made over a century of appearances donning the Lilywhites badge. But we saw how injuries and inconsistency derailed any progress that he made at Hotspur Way. And that time and again has caused him to fall down the pecking order. And now the North Londoners have the likes of Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray ahead of him in that second phase, and Bissouma has no realistic route back into the midfield starting eleven.
And that move which did not come through to Fenerbahçe sure does complicate the plans that Tottenham had for the summer, but the North Londoners are determined to trim the squad and then too avoid losing him on a free transfer when his contract comes through. There is still interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, but the Lilywhites may now have to end up accepting a reduced fee.
