Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher is open for a Premier League return with Tottenham lingering around for a potential move
Tottenham are kickstarting a new era as they look to build a squad strong enough to compete for major trophies on a regular basis. The Lilywhites ended their long-standing trophy drought earlier this year by winning the Europa League against all odds. The onus is now on Thomas Frank and his players to build on the Europa League success and compete hard on all four fronts this season.
It is fair to say that the North London club have managed to bring in some quality players to give the Danish tactician the best chance possible to compete hard. The most notable arrivals have been of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Joao Palhinha. And all these players have managed to elevate the ceiling of the squad by some distance.

However, the Lilywhites did fail in landing a solid midfielder that could provide some cover and play alongside Palhinha this season. With Rodrigo Bentancur facing an uncertain future at N17 and Yves Bissouma linked with an exit in the coming days, signing a new midfielder would have certainly been a welcome addition to Thomas Frank’s team.
Tottenham not giving up in their chase for Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher
Tottenham have already started planning for the January transfer window and are willing to make early moves to address the problems on the pitch. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites have not given up in their chase for Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher. The England international is open for a Premier League return in the winter. And Spurs are willing to put in a ‘compelling’ offer for his services.
Now, Bryan King believes that it may only take £45m for Spurs to land the 25-year-old in January. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,
“What a buy he (Gallagher) has been for Atletico Madrid. Simeone has built them up to a force in Spain to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid. Gallagher would be a good option for Spurs without a shadow of a doubt. At 25, they’d be expecting to have to splash £50m on him, but I think £45m might do the job for Spurs.”
Bryan King is impressed with the impact Conor Gallagher has made for Atletico Madrid following his switch from Chelsea. And the ex-scout certainly believes that the England international would be a perfect signing for Tottenham if the club is looking to bolster their midfield. King also admits that the Lilywhites would be able to obtain his services for around £45m in January if they play their cards right.
It is fair to say that Conor Gallagher would certainly bring in some tenacity and energy in the middle of the park for Spurs. The England international is known for his determination and commitment off the ball, adding a different dynamic to the midfield department. He would also complement the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Joao Palhinha in the second half of the season.
