Tottenham beat Juventus to secure a smart loan deal for Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur did well to improve new boss Thomas Frank’s squad during the recently concluded summer transfer window.

After finishing a lowly 17th in the Premier League last season and subsequently sacking Ange Postecoglou, who has now become the new Nottingham Forest boss, Spurs were required to overhaul the squad in the transfer market and back Thomas Frank. And overall, they did well.

The north Londoners did miss out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, but they were still able to make some exciting additions in the form of Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons. Joao Palhinha has joined on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich to add steel and physicality to the midfield unit.

Thomas Frank will be extremely satisfied with how the first transfer window in N17 panned out for him, but there is one particular move that the Danish tactician will be feeling even more delighted about.

Tottenham beat Juventus to the signing of Randal Kolo Muani

Not to forget, Tottenham surprised the fans with the deadline day signing of Randal Kolo Muani. The Frenchman has joined on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, as the north London outfit were able to hijack his impending return to Juventus in the 11th hour.

Reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes that Tottenham’s move for Kolo Muani caught Juventus completely off guard. Here is what he said via Tottenham News:

“I think Juventus were caught by surprise, with Kolo Muani having been on loan there last year.”

“They were waiting until the end of the window, thinking that they’d get better terms because obviously he was there last year, and no one else has taken him. Tottenham seemingly swooped in 24 hours to get the deal done.

“So, it’s hugely impressive and I think he’s going to be a fantastic signing, and another one that instantly improves our options.”

Spurs did well to land Kolo Muani on loan

When Dominic Solanke got injured, Spurs acted swiftly to seal a loan deal for Kolo Muani. The 26-year-old, who did well on a temporary spell at Juventus in the second half of last season, will now compete with Richarlison for a starting berth.

The French forward is likely to make his debut for Tottenham against West Ham at the weekend, hoping to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. He looks to be a sensible late addition, bringing quality and competition for Frank’s squad.
