Thomas Frank has shared his ideas on how he wants to build his Tottenham squad

A lot of questions were asked when Tottenham Hotspur announced the appointment of Thomas Frank as the new head coach in June.

After almost seven years at Brentford, Thomas Frank decided to accept the Spurs managerial post vacated by Ange Postecoglou. In a short span, the 51-year-old has already shown glimpses of how he intends to build the club back from the scratch and help the Lilywhites become competitive again in the Premier League.

It is fair to say that Spurs have got off to a strong start to the new season under Frank, with his team registering two wins in the opening three Premier League games. Their winning start was punctured by Bournemouth 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, something Frank and Co. will look to address after the international break, once the games start coming in thick and fast.

Frank outlines what success would be in his maiden season in north London

Frank admitted at the start of September that Spurs need a large squad to cope with the rigours of multiple competitions, but at the same time he also emphasised the need for time to allow his project to take shape. He states that his focus is not trophies but sustainable progress in his first season at Tottenham. Here is what Frank told BetMGM (h/t The Standard).

“Success this season is building something that is sustainable and strong.”

“I want us to consistently perform at our highest level each and every game. If we can do that, we will win enough games to get us into a place where we want to be, so that’s the aim.

“I have been in the Premier League for four years now, it is so competitive and relentless. Every team, player and manager are so good you have to be on it every time you step on the pitch. I know everyone wants to talk about the future but, for me, the most important thing is the here and now.

“It is easy to talk about the months and years to come – we need to think about what we are building in this moment as that is what we can control.”

Pundit feels Frank is Tottenham’s best summer signing

Frank has made it clear right from his appointment that he aims to make Tottenham “serial winners” during his time in N17. The north Londoners are looking to compete hard on all four fronts this season, and perhaps going by the start they have enjoyed in the Premier League, talkSPORT pundit Ally McCoist has hailed the Dane’s appointment as the club’s best signing of the summer.

Tottenham were active in the last week of the summer transfer window, bringing in creative midfielder Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and forward Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG. The duo are expected to make their debuts against West Ham United on Sunday, as the Lilywhites look to bounce back to winning ways.

It is good to see Frank wants to building a strong and sustainable squad that can regularly challenge and win trophies. The reshaping of squad is certain to take time, but with the Danish gaffer at the helm, our fans should know we are in the right hands.
