Tottenham Hotspur missed out on several top transfer targets in the summer
Both as an institution and a team, Tottenham Hotspur are going through a period of significant change. The decision of their former long-term Executive Chairman Daniel Levy to step down from his position has made this phenomenon all the more obvious, but there is a strong argument to be made that change was already manifesting itself even before Levy’s resignation.
For instance, following their UEFA Europa League triumph with Ange Postecoglou, Spurs decided to part ways with the Australian coach, and appointment Thomas Frank in his stead.
Furthermore, their market activity in the recently-closed summer transfer window has also significantly altered the makeup of the team, with the new arrivals like Joao Palhinha, Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani are expected to become important members of the Lilywhite team this season.
In total, the North London side brought in 9 new players to strengthen almost all the areas of their team. However, the way they conducted their business has still left some dissatisfied.

Alasdair Gold assesses Spurs’ market activity
As per a report from FootballInsider247, one such individual is the Tottenham insider Alasdair Gold, who assessed Spurs’ transfer window as: “Chaotic with some high profile misses.”
Gold went on to explain why he believes it was a far from perfect transfer window for the Lilywhite club:
“The club eventually brought in some real quality only to still be lacking in some areas.
“Key for me was that they made four signings that could all improve the starting XI rather than signing simply youngsters for the future or squad players.
“That’s a big improvement in one respect but we’ll find out by Christmas whether it was enough.”
With this new team, Thomas Frank has had quite an encouraging start to the new Premier League campaign. He was able to get two good victories against Burnley and Manchester City in the first two games of the league season.
However, the defeat to Bournemouth right before the international break showed how difficult it would be to compete for the big trophies, and hopefully, all these new signings will be able to contribute towards the team’s goals this season.
