Thomas Frank considered a good tactical fit in comparison to Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur
Thomas Frank has enjoyed a splendid start to life at Hotspur Way. He has been far from impressive in his early days at the helm for Tottenham Hotspur.
We saw how the Dane head coach has the capacity to succeed with limited resources with Brentford. On the touchline with the Bees, he not only brought them to the Premier League but also ensured that they are stable enough to not go back to the Championship.
And you could see how his tactical approach is taking over the current roster already at N17. His ability to play with the back three, four, or five depending on the opponent and game situation is just the tip of the iceberg.
It was just that Lilywhites’ defeat to Bournemouth ahead of the international hiatus has been a rare source of frustration in what has been a highly popular start for the North Londoners.
Many Tottenham supporters were fuming when Daniel Levy decided to relieve Ange Postecoglou of his duties. Given the fact that this came after the Australian head coach helped the Lilywhites to a European piece of silverware, it added to the wounds.
Thomas Frank backed by legendary commentator

But Thomas Frank has since proven how he has more tactical ability than the now Nottingham Forest manager. And while this is also a big psychological bounce for North Londoners’ supporters who don’t have to sit on the edge of their seats in the all-out attacking football that Ange Postecoglou deployed at Tottenham.
And legendary commentator Ian Drake believes that Frank is the tactical superior of the two. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, he said:
“I’d have to say the major difference is they look a lot smarter tactically than they did sometimes under Postecoglou.
“It was a very cute performance, I thought they put in against PSG in the Super Cup final, and they were unlucky not to win that match.
“Again against Manchester City, City were flying from their opening days, and Pep Guardiola was talking about a fresh energy about City.
“But Tottenham went there and did a number on them.”

You can quite think about Ange’s football as a high-intensity positional system aiming to put the ball in the net. But that sole goal to score a goal put the North Londoners on the back foot in other facets of the game. With Frank, it is a more calculated approach. And that in itself is a big change for the current roster.
But that being said, Ange proved his credentials by bringing silverware back to Hotspur Way after a long time. Now it is up to Thomas Frank to see how he can take this team to greater heights. And this starts with facing West Ham on the weekend at London stadium.
