Tottenham will look to focus on the footballing side of things following Daniel Levy’s untimely departure

Tottenham are entering a new era under the Lewis family’s stewardship after the club announced the shock departure of Daniel Levy. The Englishman was relieved of his duties by the Lilywhites after he failed to capture the essence of what the North London club stood for, and that is, winning trophies on a consistent basis.

Levy might have failed to turn Spurs into a trophy-winning machine, but he did leave his mark at N17 in the 24 years he was at the club. The former Spurs chairman managed to turn the Lilywhites into a commercial giant in the last two decades. Under Levy’s guidance, the North London club managed to build a self-financed world-class stadium and training facility as well.

Thomas Frank will be backed in the upcoming transfer windows as Lewis family ready significant investment into Tottenham.

Not only that, but Daniel Levy also made sure that Tottenham were competing regularly in the top-half of the Premier League table for a Champions League spot. Despite the repeated failures on the pitch, the Englishman ended up building a solid platform for the club to take the final step and win silverware consistently.

Tottenham set for cash injection as Lewis family look to live up to the promise

Tottenham have shocked the footballing world by pulling out all stops and relieving Daniel Levy of his duties this month. Levy’s departure is seen as a statement of intent by the Lilywhites as they look to kickstart a new era under the Lewis family’s guidance. The majority stakeholders are all set to invest heavily into the squad to ensure that they back the club’s ambitions of becoming successful in the coming years.

Now, finance expert Stefan Borson has also given an insight on how the money injected by the Lewis family will be spent. Speaking to Football Insider, Borson said,

“I think what is clear is that they are going to, in the post-Levy world, invest more money in the club. In fairness to Levy, there’s not that much more from a strategic perspective they can do. They’ve built a stadium. They’re pretty good on the commercial side. Yes, of course, there are always extra things you can get like the naming rights. They could try all these things.”

The finance expert added,

“But the likelihood is that the big change is going to be that they just increase the playing side budget by let’s say £50-100m a year. More wage spend, more player acquisition, and they’ll see where that takes them. That’s what I think at the moment is most likely.”

Stefan Borson believes Daniel Levy left Tottenham in a good financial state, making the Lewis family’s task easier on the commercial side of things. However, the finance expert adds that the majority stakeholders might still look to go above and beyond to secure naming rights for their stadium. Borson also suggests that the Lewis family would most likely look to increase the transfer budget by £100m so that the Lilywhites could acquire new players and spend more on wages.

Fans will only believe the words of the Lewis family once they put the money where their mouth is. In the last two decades, the majority stakeholders of the club have failed to invest into the footballing side of things. So, to blindly trust them this time around is surely not what the Spurs fans will look to do.
