Tottenham managed to show fight and hunger to clinch a draw against Brighton
The Premier League match against Brighton was a tale of two halves for Tottenham. The Lilywhites looked all out of sorts in the first half, with the players not being up to the mark against a well-drilled opposition. The North London club struggled to find rhythm and consistency, and Thomas Frank’s men were also getting beat for all the second-balls in the middle of the park. So, there was no surprise that they found themselves two goals down inside the first 45 minutes.
However, the second half portrayed a different story altogether. Thomas Frank’s men came out roaring and were determined to return to N17 with a result. The substitutions also made a massive difference, with Spurs showing sheer resilience to fight back right until the end. It is fair to say that there was one-way traffic for most parts of the half, with the Lilywhites applying pressure relentlessly.

And the North London club managed to find their way back eventually by scoring two goals in quick succession. It is fair to suggest that a draw was the least Thomas Frank’s men deserved after playing Brighton off the park in the second half of the game.
Thomas Frank was proud of Tottenham’s fightback against Brighton
Up until the game against Brighton, Tottenham had showed complete control and beaten their opponents with ease in the Premier League. However, the match against the Seagulls proved to be a different test for the Lilywhites, as they had to try all the tricks in the book to salvage a draw in the second-half. Despite conceding two goals in the game, there was a lot to admire about Spurs under Thomas Frank.
And the Danish tactician has also relayed the same sentiments while speaking in his post-match presser (as transcribed by Football.london). Talking about the result and the team’s performance, Frank said,
“I’m very, very pleased with it. I think there was also a situation the first half, the way we sprinted back on our recovery runs. That’s goosebumps, that’s bread and butter. But you want to be a resilient team because we play against good teams and it will be difficult sometimes. But it’s a good group of players. They want to perform.”
The Spurs boss added,
“They are disappointed after the game. Even when we come back, they wanted to win, of course. I also think the overall performance played in – I think maybe this was our most complete performance so far in the season. I know we made, you can say we conceded two goals, but I think actually there were so many positives overall in the game.”
Thomas Frank was ‘pleased’ with how his team performed, especially in the first-half when the players were giving their all to make things right and win the ball back constantly. The Danish tactician shared that the players were not happy with a draw, despite coming back from two goals down to clinch a result. Frank also believes that Spurs’ outing against Brighton was the ‘most complete performance’ of the season by the Lilywhites, highlighting the importance of fighting back when things weren’t going their way.
Despite the result, fans must be happy to see that the players are not throwing in the towel and giving up when things are not going their way. The quality in the team is enough to turn around a bad result and make into something that can be built upon in the future. And that is exactly what the Lilywhites did against Brighton.
