Ex-scout thinks Wilson Odobert is already in discussions with Tottenham over a loan move in January
Tottenham Hotspur fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium last weekend.
Thomas Frank’s side have made a solid start to the new campaign, and they showed plenty of encouraging signs once again to earn themselves a valuable point in the latter stages of the game. Thanks to Richarlison and an own goal from Jan Paul van Hecke, the north London club secured a draw and avoided their second defeat of the Premier League campaign.
After the midweek Champions League exertions against Villarreal, Thomas Frank decided to freshen up his squad by handing starts to Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie at Brighton. Wilson Odobert, making his first start of the new season, was deployed on the left flank, with Mohammed Kudus operating from the opposite end and Richarlison leading the attack.
The 20-year-old spent 72 minutes on the pitch, but was largely ineffective when on the ball and failure to demonstrate any meaningful threat. Plenty of energy, the France youth international struggled to get the better of Brighton right-back Joel Veltman and created nothing in the final third.

Ex-scout says Wilson Odobert will demand a January loan exit from Spurs
Odobert is now into his second season with Spurs after he signed from Burnley last summer. The Meaux-born talent might have expected to kick on after an injury-hit maiden year at N17, but has so far offered little in the way of substance and quality.
After recovering from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him for almost five months, he was unable to nail down a regular starting berth in the team last season. Under new boss Thomas Frank, it has been a clean slate for Odobert just like the rest of his teammates. However, the Danish tactician hasn’t favoured him much and only handed four cameo appearances off the bench before the start vs Brighton.
Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King states that Odobert will ever going to be first-choice option at the club. He feels the winger and his entourage will already be in discussions with the Tottenham top brass regarding a possible loan move in January.
“I would imagine they’ll be talking about a loan move,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Certainly Odobert and his agent will be wanting to know how he’s going to get games under his belt. For me, I don’t think he’s ever going to be first choice at Spurs, and definitely not at this stage of his career.
“He’s going to be wanting to play games, and that isn’t going to happen at Tottenham at the moment. A loan would be the best option for him really.”

A Premier League loan would do well for Odobert
Frank is known for developing youngsters and giving them opportunities within the senior team, as we’ve witnessed during his time at Brentford and since coming across the capital in June. At 20, Odobert clearly falls in that category, and for someone who can play anywhere across the front line bar the No.9 role, he has not got regular opportunities this season thus far.
In the present scenario, it looks hard for the Frenchman to break into Frank’s first XI and secure regular minutes, considering the quality and depth the Danish boss has at his disposal. The ex-Burnley man needs more action, so if he could get a loan move elsewhere in the English top-flight would bode well for all parties involved.
A player with bags of potential, Tottenham would unlikely be ready to sell Odobert after only 18 months. Thus, a loan move would be sensible in January.
