Tottenham receive massive boost as new update on fan favourite’s future emerges; player set for Spurs homecoming?

Tottenham are looking to sign a new striker next summer as Thomas Frank aims to create history at N17

One of the many issues Tottenham need to address next summer is the No. 9 position. The Lilywhites do not have the striking options to take them to the next level after achieving Europa League success last season. With Dominic Solanke and Richarlison the only options for Thomas Frank, the Danish tactician will hope a new forward is brought in quickly.

It is fair to say that the North London club have struggled to replace Harry Kane ever since the legendary striker departed for Bayern Munich in 2023. Since his departure, Spurs have tried both Richarlison and Solanke in the No. 9 role. However, both players have struggled to make the same impact that Kane did, and their numbers in front of goal have fallen short of the mark.

Replacing a player of Kane’s calibre was never going to be an easy task for Spurs. The England international ended his stint at N17 as the club’s record goalscorer. The only thing the 32-year-old failed to achieve during his time in the Premier League was a major trophy with the Lilywhites.

Tottenham might just be able to land Harry Kane in 2026

Many experts raised questions about Harry Kane’s decision to leave N17 for pastures new in 2023. The England international was within touching distance of breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record. However, the 32-year-old decided to call it quits and join Bayern Munich as he aimed to win his first major trophy.

After a successful stint in Germany, it now looks as though the time has come for Kane to return home. As per The Telegraph, Bayern Munich fear the England international might be tempted by a Premier League return next summer, meaning the current season would be his last for the Bundesliga champions.

The report also states that Kane has a £56.7 million release clause in his contract that could come into effect at the end of the current season. Not only that, but the legendary striker also enjoys a good relationship with the Lewis family, which means Spurs would be at the front of the queue for his signature next year.

Earlier reports have suggested that the Lewis family are ready to make significant investment in the North London club following major changes in the hierarchy. The majority stakeholders want to shift the focus towards the football side of things. To achieve that, they are readying a £100 million cash injection for the upcoming transfer window.

This money will be used to bring in new players and adjust the rigid wage structure that Spurs had in place under former chairman Daniel Levy. The Lewis family are willing to exceed the wage limit to lure new players to N17, indicating they would be more than happy to match Harry Kane’s expected salary demands in 2026.
