Thomas Frank names the areas he wants Tottenham winger Wilson Odobert to improve upon
Tottenham Hotspur produced an impressive turnaround against Brighton and Hove Albion to rescue a point last weekend. The players showed great fighting spirit to come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the Amex Stadium to climb to third in the Premier League table.
Thomas Frank must extremely pleased with Spurs’ start to the new season, and this has come in the injury absences of key players such as James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski. After the midweek exertions of facing Villarreal in the Champions League, the Danish tactician decided to freshen up his starting XI and start Wilson Odobert against Brighton.
Making his first start of the season, Wilson Odobert was deployed on the left flank. He was on the pitch for 72 minutes, trying to cause problems for the Seagulls’ defenders and create opportunities in the final third for his teammates.

Thomas Frank wants to develop Wilson Odobert at Tottenham
Speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup third-round tie against Doncaster Rovers, Frank admitted he was happy with Odobert’s performance against Brighton. He liked the “variation” in the French winger’s game and link-up play with his teammates, although expected more of the player arriving in the box and threatening Brighton’s defence.
“Let’s start with Wilson. I think his game against Brighton was promising,” he said. “I liked the variation in his game so he could go on the outside and produce a cross with his left foot. He could go inside and cut across. He combined nicely,” Frank was quoted by Football London.
“Good link-up play as well, good understanding of his team-mates, worked hard. Probably a little bit of… I hate to say end product, I don’t want to say that so I’ll say arriving in the box. That’s where he’ll score most of the goals. I think he’s in a good place.”

Odobert has a future at Spurs
Odobert impressed in the pre-season but has not got minutes since the beginning of the 2025/26 season. The 20-year-old finds himself competing with plenty of talented attackers at Tottenham, resulting in sporadic opportunities under Frank thus far.
After an injury-ravaged debut season in north London, the native from Meaux is desperate to succeed this term and compensate for lack of action. It has been difficult for him to make an impact with such limited opportunity, which ex-Spurs scout Bryan King feels will result into Odobert seeking a loan move away from the club in January.
The positive thing is Frank is counting on Odobert and wants to develop his talent at N17. The Dane has his set of demands which the Frenchman must fulfil to clock more minutes throughout the season.
