Brentford star Yehor Yarmolyuk might be heading for pastures new in the winter as Tottenham Hotspur circle
Tottenham managed to bring in some top-quality players in the summer as the club aimed to build on its Europa League success under Thomas Frank this season. Credit where its due, the new players have really settled in well at N17 and they certainly look like positive investments for the future. The Lilywhites, however, need to address a few more issues on the pitch in January if they want to compete hard on all four fronts.
Given how important it is for Thomas Frank to have solid depth in the middle of the park, there were a lot of eyebrows raised when the North London club failed to sign a new #8. The Danish tactician relies heavily on his progressive midfielders to drive the team towards the opposition goal by creating chances and making an impact in the final third of the pitch.

As of now, Spurs only have Lucas Bergvall, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Pape Matar Sarr in their ranks that are capable of operating as an out-and-out box-to-box midfielders. The lack of options in the middle of the park is not ideal for Thomas Frank as he looks to challenge for more silverware during his time at N17 this season. That is why bringing in a new midfielder in January should be a priority for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham keeping tabs on Brentford star Yehor Yarmolyuk
Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is already facing an uncertain future at N17 after entering the final eleven months of his contract. The Uruguay international has shown no signs of extending his stay at Hotspur Way yet, and there is a strong belief that he might be heading for pastures new in the coming months. So, the Lilywhites need to find a suitable replacement in January if they want to fill the void left behind by Bentancur.
As per TEAMtalk, Spurs have identified Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk as a potential replacement option for Bentancur. The Ukraine international has made some huge strides at the Gtech Stadium, and it looks like some big clubs have taken notice of his talent. Along with the Lilywhites, Manchester United are also interested in signing the 21-year-old in the winter as they look to add more manpower in the middle of the park.
The aforementioned report also states that the Bees are not willing to part ways with Yarmolyuk midway through the season as they are trying to ensure Premier League safety under Keith Andrews. However, the West London club might be forced to sell the Ukrainian if an offer of around £30m is made in the coming months.
Given how important it is for Spurs to address the issue in the middle of the park, signing Yarmolyuk might not be a bad option after all. Thomas Frank has already coached the Ukrainian when he was at Brentford, so the Danish tactician knows how to get the best out of him. Not only that, but the 21-year-old’s physicality is something that the Lilywhites might want to add to their ranks. He also excels in controlling the tempo of the game, as well as, dictating the play with accurate long balls.
All-in-all, bringing in Yehor Yarmolyuk would end up being a shrewd signing by Tottenham.
