Tottenham legend Harry Kane is within touching distance of breaking the Premier League goalscoring record

Tottenham look like a side determined to build on last season’s Europa League triumph and add more silverware to their trophy cabinet under Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites have set their sights on competing strongly across all four fronts this season, and Frank has made it clear that complacency will not be tolerated as the campaign progresses.

However, for Spurs to move from simply closing the gap on their rivals to genuinely challenging for the Premier League title, they will need to recruit high-quality players to strengthen the squad. Several positions still require attention ahead of next summer if the North London club want to take the next step and contend for trophies on a regular basis, and one of the key areas is the No. 9 role.

With Dominic Solanke and Richarlison struggling for form at N17, it is no surprise that the Lilywhites are exploring alternatives in the transfer market. If Thomas Frank wants to make history at Hotspur Way, he will need to secure a striker capable of immediately bolstering the attack.

Tottenham eyeing a deal to land Harry Kane next summer

Recent reports suggest that Tottenham are eager to bring back Harry Kane to N17 amid growing concerns over his future at Bayern Munich. The England international has a £56.7 million release clause in his contract that is set to be activated next year. According to the report, the Lilywhites are frontrunners for the 32-year-old’s signature due to the legendary striker’s close relationship with the Lewis family.

There has been speculation that Kane wants to return to England solely to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record. However, Ian Wright appears to think otherwise when asked about the prolific striker’s potential return to N17. Speaking on The Overlap, Wright said.

“I think he probably wants to come back. It’s not just for the record. I just think to finish off here and probably maybe try and see if he can be a part of a team that wins something at Tottenham.”

The Arsenal legend also added,

“Obviously they’ve won the Europa but for him and his legacy to be at Tottenham and maybe win something at the end and then go on to maybe get the goals because I think even if Harry Kane comes back next season, you know he’s got enough seasoning, he’ll break that record.”

Ian Wright believes Harry Kane wants to return to Tottenham not only to chase Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record but also to win a major trophy with the North London club before retiring. The Arsenal legend admits that while the England international is surely eyeing Shearer’s record, the 32-year-old also hopes to cement his legacy at N17 by helping the Lilywhites secure more silverware.

For now, however, Tottenham fans may have to temper their excitement over a potential Kane homecoming. The England captain appears content at Bayern Munich at the moment, and the Lilywhites will likely have to work hard to lure him back to N17 before other clubs enter the race for his signature.
