Tottenham boss Thomas Frank wants his team to continue their fight at the top end of the Premier League table
Tottenham appear to be a completely transformed side under Thomas Frank this season. The Lilywhites look far more assured at the back, with noticeably less chaos on the pitch. They have also made a strong start in the Premier League, winning three of their opening five matches and keeping three clean sheets in the process, with several players performing above expectations.
The standout moment of Spurs’ season so far was their impressive away win against Manchester City. On that day, Thomas Frank’s men were head and shoulders above Pep Guardiola’s side and fully deserved to clinch all three points at the Etihad Stadium.

Yet, according to Frank, the hard-fought draw against Brighton was actually the North London club’s ‘best performance’ of the season. Looking back, you can clearly see that the players gave their all to come back from 2-0 and level the game away from home. Given Tottenham’s poor record at the AMEX Stadium in recent years, last week’s spirited fightback looks even more impressive.
Tottenham to get back on track in the PL with a win over Wolves
Tottenham head into the weekend brimming with confidence after their Carabao Cup third-round victory over Doncaster Rovers. The Lilywhites will now be aiming to maintain their winning momentum and secure all three points against Wolves. Vitor Pereira’s side are yet to open their account in the Premier League, giving Spurs and excellent opportunity to capitalise and strengthen their position in the league table.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson also expects the clash with Wolves to be a fairly straightforward affair for Tottenham. Writing in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson has backed the Lilywhites to clinch all three points at home. He has said,
“I couldn’t believe how Wolves lost last weekend. When they went 1-0 up, I thought the game was done and dusted but they got absolutely destroyed by Leeds! So in all honesty, I can’t see anything but a Tottenham win here.”
The Arsenal icon added,
“You take away that loss to Bournemouth and Spurs have been good. As long as they turn up and play the way Thomas Frank wants them to play, there should only be one winner here.”
Paul Merson believes Wolves’ poor form in the Premier League will play into Tottenham’s hands, while also praising the impressive work Thomas Frank has done at Spurs so far – barring the shocking defeat to Bournemouth. He predicts the Lilywhites will get back to winning ways against Vitor Pereira’s men as long as they stick to their fundamentals.
All eyes will be on Thomas Frank and his men as they look to close the gap on their rivals this season. The Danish tactician has made it clear that he intends to compete strongly on all four fronts, and so far, his team appears to be on the right track. A victory over Wolves would only strengthen their push up the Premier League table.
