Thomas Frank pleased with Tottenham ace’s ‘good numbers’; keen to see him keep building

Thomas Frank makes certain demands of Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Spurs were back to winning ways on Wednesday evening, beating Doncaster Rovers 3-0 in the Carabao Cup third round. Before the cup game, they drew 2-2 with Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League. Thomas Frank’s side had to fight extremely hard to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Brighton and get a valuable point on the south coast.

Richarlison played a crucial role in the Lilywhites’ comeback against Brighton. He pulled one back with an instinctive finish in the box in the first half, leading to the visitors’ comeback after the break. With his strike against Brighton, the 28-year-old took his tally to three goals in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham forward Richarlison is enjoying a new lease of life under Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank happy with Richarlison’s performances

Richarlison has been one of the beneficiaries of the arrival of Thomas Frank in N17. He is enjoying a new lease of life at the club after enduring back-to-back injury-ravaged campaigns. The Brazilian international has started the 2025/26 season as the head coach’s first-choice No.9, thanks largely due to Dominic Solanke’s niggling ankle issues.

Frank was addressing the media ahead of Wolves’ visit to Tottenham. He was asked about how much headache Richarlison is giving to him with the impending return of Solanke, to which the Dane said in his presser:

“It’s what, three goals and one assist in his first five games of the season? Right now, it’s very simple and very easy. Richie is playing and Richie is doing good. Um as you said, scored three goals and one assist. This is good numbers.

“So yeah, happy with Richie. He just needs to keep building, keep adding good performances, keep arriving in the right areas in the box. So yeah, that’s positive.”

Richarlison must continue performing

Richarlison is once again set to lead the Tottenham attack when Wolves visit north London on Saturday. This is because both Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani have been ruled out due to injury problems.

The 28-year-old has managed to keep himself fit this season thus far, which is a big plus. And his fitness has also directly helped him to contribute with three goals and an assist in five league games. With his pressing, physicality and aerial ability, the South American has proven to be an ideal fit in Frank’s system.

Now that he has started the season well, Richarlison must continue delivering the goods consistently and do everything possible to keep himself fit. He must be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a Wolves side with the second-worst defensive record in the division.
