Tottenham Hotspur focused on reinforcing their attacking options during the summer transfer window. They signed Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani, whilst turning Mathys Tel’s loan from Bayern Munich into a permanent deal.

Thomas Frank has been happy with the business Spurs did during the past transfer window but remains keen to bring in additional options in the forward department. Before signing Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, the north Londoners were interested in signing Villarreal forward Georges Mikautadze.

As Tottenham were looking to offload Richarlison in the summer, Georges Mikautadze was viewed as an option to replace the Brazilian. However, Richarlison stayed in N17 and Spurs subsequently did not go for Mikautadze, who was snapped by Villarreal from Lyon.

Mikautadze has started life at Villarreal well with a goal and an assist in three La Liga appearances. The Hungarian international recently faced Tottenham in the Champions League as Villarreal were narrowly beaten 1-0, owing to a blunder from goalkeeper Luiz Junior.

With his pace and directness, the 24-year-old threatened the Tottenham backline. Mikautadze was put through on goal by Dani Parejo, but Micky van de Ven fouled him just outside the box. Van de Ven was handed a lucky reprieve as the referee showed a yellow card and the VAR decided not to interfere, despite the Spurs defender being the last man.

Having watched the Hungarian forward in action from close quarters, Tottenham have decided to revive their interest in the player. According to a report from Fichajes, Spurs are willing to put a €60 million offer on the table for Mikautadze in the 2026 summer transfer window. They have started closely monitoring his performances at Villarreal, with Frank viewing the speedy striker an ‘ideal fit’ to support his current stars and bolster their attack in European competitions.

Mikautadze would offer different dynamic to Tottenham attack

Mikautadze has become one of the sought-after attackers in Europe right now, and at only 24, he has potential to grow. The Hungarian’s direct style, work rate, and finishing ability would slot in perfectly alongside Kudus and Simons in the Tottenham attack.

Moreover, with Richarlison’s inconsistency and Kolo Muani at the club only on a dry loan from PSG, Spurs could use another dynamic forward who offers both goals and pressing from the front. Due to his explosive pace, directness and dribbling ability, the ex-Lyon man would provide a different dynamic to Frank’s attack.

All in all, Tottenham willing to offer up to €60 million for Mikautadze shows they are serious about the player. Whether they offer that amount next year is another question. For now, the Hotspur Way chiefs must continue monitoring his performances for the Yellow Submarine.
