Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on Brazilian prodigy Rayan
Tottenham see themselves back in the Brazilian market and have turned their attention once again to Vasco da Gama forward Rayan. Reports in Brazil claim Spurs had representatives at Sao Januario this weekend to watch the 19-year-old against Cruzeiro. Barcelona also sent a scout. That in itself tells you everything about how highly the teenager is rated.
That is as per NT Vascaínos (h/t Sport Witness). The scouts’ trip did not go to waste as not only did Vasco win, but Rayan played a key role in the same. Opening the scoring within 10 minutes of kick-off and continuing to prowess and breathe heavy down the neck of the defenders, he created havoc and quite an impression on both sets of scouts.
Rayan sees himself to Vasco until the end of 2026 and has a release clause of £34.3m. The club are trying to keep him until the end of the season, but interest is mounting fast. Spurs stand expected to test the waters with an offer in the region of £25.7m which could potentially see him sail over to England.

After missing out on Savinho, who extended his stay with Man City in the summer, Spurs interest in Rayan looks natural. He is a 1v1 winger who can play on both sides, with outstanding quality on the ball and an eye for goal, having scored 12 times in 37 starts this year.
Vasco’s attacking depth is notable. The team boasts key playmakers Philippe Coutinho and Dimitri Payet along with Argentine striker Pablo Vegetti. To strengthen the wide positions, the club brought in three new signings in the last transfer window: Benjamin Garre, Nuno Moreira and Loide Augusto. Alongside them are Adson and Rayan, who has had to fight for his minutes considering his competition.
During his youth career Rayan played in multiple attacking positions and carries that versatility into the senior setup. With so many attacking players at the club, his adaptability is crucial for earning minutes as he continues adjusting to first team football.
Rayan draws a lot of natural comparisons to Savinho, and that is part of why Spurs see value in going after him. Savinho has shown at Man City that a direct, pacey wide player who can beat his man and carry the ball under pressure can adapt well to the Premier League when given the right structure. The youngster has a similar 1v1 profile, plays off both flanks, and has that same mix of physical sharpness and confidence in tight spaces. If Rayan develops along the same trajectory, Spurs would be getting a player who offers what they hoped Savinho would bring, but earlier and with room to grow into a long term starter.
