Pape Matar Sarr and Lucas Bergvall could prove decisive for Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur had an underwhelming weekend as they drew 1-1 with Wolves at home. It was an opportunity to go within touching distance of Liverpool on the Premier League table. But despite the frustrations coming out of that game against the bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers, one thing is clear: Thomas Frank has the foundations of a roster that has the capacity to rival any in the Premier League.
And he also has some players in the middle of the park who can make a difference. And two of those are Pape Matar Sarr and Lucas Bergvall.
Martin Allen backs Pape Matar Sarr and Lucas Bergvall

Bergvall is only still a teenager, but he has been showing capacities to become one of the best in the league. You could see how he has that composure in the middle of the park, and he has already unlocked that ability to time runs into the box. The Swede has been showing capabilities beyond his years, and you could see how he is already really influential for the Lilywhites.
Many see him as a prospect, but he is not just a prospect anymore. He is someone who is increasingly becoming indispensable in the current roster. Which is why it’s not a surprise to see Real Madrid are monitoring him.
But if Bergvall is that silly presence in the second phase, Pape Matar Sarr is the steel.

We have seen the Senegalese international bring his game quite a level or two above. He is already showing that he has the capacity to add some creative ability alongside his tireless work rate. To put it into context, Sarr has already matched his assist tally from last season. And under the current structure that Thomas Frank has implemented at Tottenham, you could see how he is becoming more of a box-to-box presence every passing week.
And former manager Martin Allen feels that the aforementioned duo have the capacity and energy in the second phase, which is much like what Liverpool possesses as well. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, he said:
“I do think Sarr and Bergvall are the long-term solutions for Tottenham’s midfield. They’ve both got legs.
“hey’ve got energy. All the top teams have that. Liverpool can run all day, and Spurs need to match that.”
TTLB Opinion
In a way, if we think about the individual capacity of Bergvall and Sarr, they can become more of Tottenham’s version of Wijnaldum and Henderson. And with those two in the middle of the park, the North Londoners do have a sense of balance and energy that can help them close the gap on Liverpool. But there is still a lot to do in terms of squad development to reach anywhere near the Reds.
