Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in Nathan Collins as Brentford remain defiant
Tottenham Hotspur significant strengthened their team in the last summer transfer window, as they brought in new players for almost all the areas of the squad. However, only around a month after the end of the market, the North London side is once again reportedly looking to reinforce one key area of the team.
This area is none other than the centre-back position, where Cristian Romero and Mikey van de Ven are established as starters and for which Spurs brought in Kota Takai and Kevin Danso in the summer. Still, the Lilywhites are being linked with several high-profile centre-backs.
Among these players, one player with whom Tottenham have been linked particularly strongly is the Brentford defender Nathan Collins. The Irish centre-back had played all the 38 Premier League games for the Bees under Thomas Frank last season, and the Danish coach was particularly keen to reunite with him at Spurs.

However, there is bad news for the North London side in this regard, as a report from TeamTALK claim that Brentford are not going to entertain any offers for the defender in the winter, as he remains a key part of Keith Andrews’ plans.
In fact, the Bees have already assured their new coach that any offer for Collins will not be entertained in January, especially as they have already lost important players like Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa in recent months.
There is no doubt that a player of Collins quality would have significantly improved the Tottenham defence, while his previous experience of playing with Thomas Frank would only have made his incorporation in the Spurs squad even more enticing.
However, it seems now that he will not be joining the North London side, at least this winter, and if Frank still wants more defensive depth in January, the Lilywhites will have to turn their attentions towards other targets. For now, it remains to be seen on which defender Tottenham will make the bet, but they have a lot of time to think about it as there are still some months before the market will reopen.
