“Expensive deal”- Tottenham will need to splash the cash to land prolific Euro marksman in 2026

Tottenham Hotspur are the favourites to bring Harry Kane back to the Premier League next year

Harry Kane is certainly making waves in Germany following his high-profile switch from Tottenham to Bayern Munich. It is safe to say that the England international will go down as one of the best strikers of this generation, purely because of his ability to find the back of the net consistently season after season.

Before departing Spurs in 2023, the 32-year-old cemented his legacy in North London by becoming the club’s all-time top goal-scorer. Since then, he has carried that same prolific form to Bavaria. Earlier this week, Kane reached 100 goals for Bayern Munich in just 104 appearances – making him the fastest player in history to hit a century for the German giants. It was yet another reminder of his enduring class.

Tottenham are aiming for a summer reunion with Harry Kane.

Still, Kane’s decision to leave the Premier League has remained a point of debate among fans and pundits. Many believe he was on the cusp of surpassing Alan Shearer’s all-time scoring record in England before choosing to seek new challenges abroad. In truth, the striker’s move appeared motivated more by a desire to lift major silverware than to chase personal milestones.

Tottenham eyeing a potential Harry Kane return next summer

Speculation over Kane’s future have now resurfaced, with reports suggesting Tottenham are keen to bring him back to N17 next summer. Questions remain over his long-term plans in Germany, and Bayern Munich are said to be wary that the forward could eventually seek a return to English football. Spurs are also considered the frontrunners should that happen, given the 32-year-old’s close ties to the Lewis family and his deep history with the North London club.

However, finance expert Stefan has cautioned that any potential reunion would come at a heavy cost. Speaking to Football Insider, Borson said,

“He’s still brilliant, but what’s he going to be like next season? And players of his age, they can fall off a cliff very quickly. If he’s going to come back, the fee is going to be enormous relative for a player of his age.”

The finance expert added,

“He’s going to be on massive wages, probably £25m a year. He’s going to want at least a two-year contract to come back, probably three. I mean, it’s a very expensive deal to get things going.”

Stefan Borson’s comments highlight the dilemma facing Spurs. While Kane’s return would undeniably raise the quality of their attack, it would likely require the club to break its wage structure and commit to a sizeable transfer fee. At 32, there are also concerns about how long he can maintain his current level before natural decline sets in.

Whether Spurs can fend off competition and absorb the financial demands of such a deal remains to be seen. For now, the legendary striker continues to shine in Germany, but whispers of a North London reunion grow louder with each passing week.
