Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in more players in the upcoming January transfer window

Tottenham are undergoing plenty of change at the moment as the club looks to sharpen its focus on the one thing that matters most – winning major trophies. The Lilywhites have made a solid start to the new Premier League campaign under Thomas Frank, picking up three wins from their opening six matches.

On top of that, Spurs have also enjoyed their best Champions League start in recent years, collecting four points from a possible six. Yet despite their encouraging position in the top half of the table, many fans remain concerned about Thomas Frank’s pragmatic approach.

A lack of creativity and an overreliance on defensive setups have left Tottenham chasing games far too often. In fact, Thomas Frank’s men have had to come from behind to rescue draws in three of their last four matches, underlining the need for more attacking spark in the side for the second half of the season.

Tottenham must look to build on last season’s UEL success

Last month, the Lewis family announced that they were planning to inject £100m into the club for the upcoming transfer window. The cash-injection is to be used by Tottenham for player transfers and wages, which strongly indicates that the North London club’s focus is shifting towards success on the pitch.

Now, Alasdair Gold has also urged the Spurs hierarchy to help the club push up the ladder and build on last season’s historic achievement. Writing in his column for Football.london, Gold said,

“Together as a unit, the Lewis family, Venkatesham, Lange and Paratici have the opportunity to push Tottenham up the ladder both in terms of transfers, the wage structure and the quality at Thomas Frank’s disposal. It is still early days in the Dane’s reign but the need for extra creativity in his squad is clear.”

The journalist added,

“Strong foundations will prevent defeats, with just the one this season, but the fans will need to enjoy what happens at the other end if they are to keep coming back to watch. Tottenham faltered and fell after their last European final appearance in 2019. Now with new people in charge at all levels, there’s no better time than to learn from others’ mistakes of the past and create something far more exciting.”

Alasdair Gold believes that the Lewis family, along with Spurs’ footballing leadership, have the chance to right past wrongs and take the club to the next level. With Thomas Frank already laying down a strong base, the board must now act decisively in January to add the creativity and quality needed to turn Spurs into genuine contenders.

Tottenham are already scouting potential reinforcements, and the upcoming transfer window could prove to be pivotal for the North London club. If the Lilywhites manage to land their key targets, Thomas Frank may finally have the tools needed to challenge seriously on all four fronts this season.
