Tottenham told to cut short Mikey Moore’s loan at Rangers

Moore, who penned a new long-term deal with Tottenham in August, has suffered due to the Gers being in complete turmoil under Russell Martin. Things have not gone according to plan for flying winger since his loan move to Ibrox, as he has started just two league games so far. He did pick up an assist in Rangers’ 2-0 win over Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final.

The teenager came off the bench in Rangers’ first win of the Scottish Premiership season against Livingston last weekend, although he failed to impress much. With sporadic starts under his belt, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King feels the north London club picked the wrong loan destination for their academy star and should try to recall him as early as possible.

“It was a bad move from day one,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.

“If I were Tottenham, I would get him back as soon as possible, and either send him out on loan again, or give him the confidence that he had when he first broke into the team.

“As a young player, you want to be joining a club that’s happy and getting results, and that’s the last thing that Rangers have been doing.

“It isn’t the place to go for a young player like Moore. He is a talent, but talent has to be nurtured, and at the moment, he’s at the wrong football club.”

Spurs must recall Moore in January

For a teenager out on loan, it has been a tough experience for Moore at Rangers thus far. Playing at the Ibrox and other hostile environments in the Scotland is not easy for players, let alone a raw and inexperienced teenager like the Spurs winger. Plus, the club’s dismal start to the new season, toxic atmosphere at the Ibrox and Martin’s uncertain future has had an extremely negative effect on the squad.

And Moore has suffered in the process, with his confidence further plummeting after a disappointing showing against Livingston after coming off the bench. Tottenham require a stable environment for their young guns and academy talents to grow, and Rangers, sadly, isn’t one at the moment. That said, the Hotspur Way chiefs must consider cutting short Moore’s loan in Glasgow in January.
