Asian Consortium make a decision amidst Tottenham takeover speculation; opportunity missed?

Shock Tottenham Hotspur takeover update as key bidders announce exit

The long-running takeover speculation at Tottenham Hotspur has taken another twist after Firehawk Holdings Limited confirmed they will not be moving forward with a bid for the club.

The Asia-based consortium, fronted by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng, was one of two groups to have shown serious interest in acquiring ENIC’s controlling stake in Spurs earlier this year.

But after weeks of silence, Firehawk officially announced through the London Stock Exchange that they will not be making an offer before the October 5 deadline. (h/t Football London)

Stability the need of the hour

It follows PCP International Finance Limited’s decision to pull out of talks, leaving only the informal interest from a consortium led by US tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick. His group has floated the idea of a £4.5B takeover, with £3.3B earmarked for the purchase itself and a further £1.2B set aside to back manager Thomas Frank in the transfer market.

Earick, who unsuccessfully attempted to buy Formula E outfit Maserati earlier this year, is fronting a group of 12 investors with ties to both the NFL and NBA.

Even with all this saga going on, the Lewis Family reiterates the fact that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC is not looking for an exit. Pretty obvious, that. Think of all the changes in the backroom including the CEO, and it only makes takeover bid talks sound loose-ended.

Hopefully, all of this takeover talk and the business side of things and the general speculation around the club in that aspect does not deter the main core goal, which is to win football games and bring home trophies to Hotspur Way. The way things are going with Frank at the helm, there remains a sense of positivity when it comes to winning silverware sooner rather than later.
