Harry Kane might impact Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Marc Guehi
Tottenham see themselves in the market for a high-level centre-back in January, and Marc Guehi remains at the top of the list for a while. Spurs have been positioning themselves as serious contenders after his move to Liverpool fell apart late in the summer window. The problem is the competition has only grown, not eased.
Clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are already in the running. Now, as per journalist Graeme Bailey who recently spoke to TBR Football, another club comes into the mix to sign Guehi, and it is former Tottenham captain Harry Kane‘s Bayern Munich.
“We are told that [Michael] Olise and [Harry] Kane have recommended Guehi to club officials – but they are already well aware of Guehi’s situation.”
“They took the chance to see Guehi in action against Alexander Isak at the weekend, and will have no doubt departed Selhurst Park, impressed with what they saw.”
“Guehi, as I have previously said, is emerging as one of the most wanted potential Bosman free transfers in history – in terms of how many top clubs want him and are looking at landing him. It really is every major club in Europe.”

To be really honest from the outset, this was not easy for Spurs at all. To convince a player in less than six months from the time he did not show promise in a project is a really tough task. Especially with the best clubs from multiple countries showing interest in securing the services of the Chelsea-academy graduate.
Having said that, it is very easy to see why any club would show interest in Guehi, let alone Spurs. Thomas Frank wants a trustable strong presence at the back to partner the likes of Micky van de Ven and captain Cristian Romero. PL Proven, capable of playing a high-line, quick and agile, and a brilliant leader at a very young age.
But the Lilywhites will not get him without meeting two conditions. First, they have to show the 25-year-old they are a proper contender, not just a good story. Second, they need to move quickly before Bayern, Liverpool or one of the Spanish clubs start formal talks.

Kane being involved from the outside only complicates things. He holds influence and Bayern act fast when their key players speak up. If Spurs want Guehi, they are going to have to fight harder than they did in August
