Pundit draws from personal experience; drops verdict on Tottenham hiring Thomas Frank

Stephen Warnock believes Tottenham Hotspur made the right call by hiring Thomas Frank

Tottenham look like a completely different team under Thomas Frank this season. The Danish tactician has brought in stability and control at N17 – something that was majorly missing under Ange Postecoglou last season. Not only that, but Frank has also managed to instil a winning mentality among his players as they look to build on last season’s Europa League success.

When Frank first claimed that he wanted Spurs to compete on all fronts this season, his comments were met with skepticism. But fast forward a few months, and the ex-Brentford boss appears to be staying true to his word. Tottenham’s performances have reflected both belief and resilience, as the players continue to fight for their manager week in and week out.

The Lilywhites extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions following a crucial away victory over Leeds United in the Premier League. That result at Elland Road — against a team unbeaten at home for over a year — was another statement of intent. Heading into the October international break, Spurs sit just two points behind league leaders Arsenal, having lost only once all season.

Hiring Thomas Frank has turned out to be a masterstroke by Tottenham

There is a renewed buzz around N17. Tottenham no longer resemble a side that collapses under pressure. Instead, they look composed, tactically disciplined, and motivated. Under Thomas Frank, the Lilywhites have rediscovered their identity and given fans a genuine reason to look forward to every game. His system has already elevated the performances of several players, showing that the work being done at Hotspur Way is paying dividends.

Now, Stephen Warnock has praised Frank’s impact at Spurs this season. Speaking on NBC Sports (via X), Warnock said,

“Yeah absolutely, he looks like the right appointment. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with him a couple of years ago, and I loved what he was about. I loved the type of person he was. I just look at the togetherness of the squad, and it looks different. It looks like there’s huge respect and understanding of what the manager is asking the players to do.”

One of the first things that fans may have noticed this season is the togetherness in the Tottenham squad under Thomas Frank. The Danish tactician excels in man-management, and he has already shown that in abundance as he looks to bring out the best in his players week after week. The ex-Brentford boss has also managed to prove that he is the right man for the job by opting to play entertaining football at N17 this season.

Looking ahead, fans will hope that the Lilywhites can maintain their momentum and finish the season strongly. A top-six finish in the Premier League, coupled with a deep run in one of the domestic cup competitions, would represent an excellent first campaign for Thomas Frank. Will the Danish tactician create his own history at N17? Only time will tell.
