A cheetah who became a footballer by mistake. Kevin Schade is among the most aggressively fast players in the Premier League. The 23-year-old German international first hit the limelight when he moved to Brentford on loan from SC Freiburg, later making that move permanent.

As things stand now, according to OneFootball, Thomas Frank wants to bring Schade to Tottenham Hotspur. Frank, who nurtured Schade’s development at Brentford since his 2022 arrival from Freiburg, has publicly lauded the 23-year-old German international as possessing “big potential” and an “incredible” trajectory.

With Schade’s contract extending to 2028 (Transfermarkt), Brentford may seek to capitalise on his rising market value, estimated at €25-30m, amid Tottenham’s strategic overhaul under ENIC and their newly-injected £100m.

West-North connection!

Versatile across the left wing, central striker, or even the right flank, Schade excels in exploiting half-spaces, delivering precise cutbacks, and contributing defensively through high pressing. These attributes have earned him a recall to the German national team, placing him among the strongest of contenders for the 2026 World Cup squad.

Frank’s importation of Brentford principles would integrate Schade effortlessly into a revamped attack. Featuring Dominic Solanke centrally and Pedro Porro’s overlapping runs on the right supported by the engine trio of Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison, when he’ll be back. His raw pace and power would amplify Spurs’ verticality, enabling Frank to alternate between possession-dominant phases and also, lethal counters.

Players’ tactical intelligence shines in varying build-up play. Schade’s ability to drop deep to lay it off or make a run into channels that might disrupts low blocks, as seen in Brentford’s 2024-25 long-throw innovations under set-piece coach Keith Andrews. This adaptability allowed Schade to evolve from a rotational option to a starter. He started scoring crucial goals in high-stakes fixtures which just goes to show how well-rounded his is to make the jump to a bigger side.

In 82 appearances across all competitions for The Bees, Schade has 15 goals and five assists to boot. Going by Frank’s style of play, with quick vertical transitions during his time at the GTech, a player like Schade might fit into Tottenham’s plans like a glove. With Wilson Odobert the only clear-cut option on the left-wing (Brennan Johnson can also play on the left), having a primary option like Schade is only going to help strengthen the squad.
