David Trezeguet ranks Dusan Vlahovic over Harry Kane amid Spurs interest
Tottenham Hotspur find themselves at a crossroads in the striker market this autumn. Former Juventus forward David Trezeguet has stirred debate by ranking Dusan Vlahovic above Harry Kane in his list of the world’s top strikers.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via TBR Football, Trezeguet placed Vlahovic seventh and Kane ninth, behind only Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and a few others. He described Vlahovic as a “top ace” and a “stellar” option for clubs like Spurs, suggesting his blend of power and precision edges out Kane’s output. Yet, as Tottenham weigh options amid Dominic Solanke’s injury concerns and Richarlison’s inconsistencies, this Kane vs Vlahovic can be a good dialogue.
No discussion of elite forwards can overlook Harry Kane‘s extraordinary legacy at Tottenham and beyond. The 32-year-old England captain remains the complete striker, a master of positioning, link-up play, and ruthless finishing. Since his £86m departure to Bayern in 2023, Kane has elevated his game to new heights. In the 2025-26 season alone, he has notched goals at an alarming rate, contributing to Bayern’s strong start in the Bundesliga and Champions League. 106 competitive appearances for the German champions, Kane has scored 103 goals, breaking records with his efficiency: 72.7 per cent of shots on target and a goal every 41 minutes on average.

Kane or Vla?
At Spurs, he holds the all-time scoring record with 280 goals in 435 games, a testament to his loyalty and brilliance. Thomas Frank also has openly welcomed a potential reunion, noting Kane’s unfinished business in North London.
Contrast this with Dusan Vlahovic, whose form has faltered since his move to Juventus from Fiorentina in 2022. The 25-year-old Serb arrived with promise, accumulating 8 G/A in 15 apps in his debut Serie A (half) season with Le Zebre. Yet, injuries and tactical mismatches have plagued him. In 2023-24, he managed just 16 league goals amid Juventus’ struggles, often isolated up front.
This season, Vlahovic has endured a slow start, with reports suggesting he is yet to earn a consistent starting berth in the 2025-26 campaign. He has appeared in limited minutes, scoring twice in two Champions League outings but struggling for rhythm in domestic fixtures. His aerial dominance and physicality remain assets, but conversion rates have dipped below 20 per cent in recent terms, raising questions over his consistency in high-pressure environments.

While Trezeguet’s endorsement adds intrigue, Kane’s track record makes him the safer bet for silverware. As the transfer windows loom, Tottenham fans ponder: reunion with a legend or gamble on redemption? Either way, the hunt for goals intensifies.
