Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the progress of FC Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt
Thomas Frank did not have a smooth first transfer window at Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs faced several setbacks in the summer transfer window, failing to land many transfer targets. The most notable targets were Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, and Thomas Frank missed out on the England duo.
Another player who was firmly on the radar of the north London club was Victor Froholdt. Tottenham were among many clubs who had made scouting trips to watch Victor Froholdt in action since last year following his promotion to the FC Copenhagen’s first team. The central midfielder enjoyed his breakout campaign at FC Copenhagen last term, racking up 53 appearances in all competitions.
The Dane came close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer but a move broke down due to the fee demanded by FC Copenhagen. Eventually, the teenager was snapped up by FC Porto in July.

FC Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt wanted by Tottenham
Froholdt has been impressive for his new club FC Porto in the opening months of the 2025/26 campaign, bagging a goal and two assists in 11 appearances. The Denmark international’s performances for Porto have not gone unnoticed, and according to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are among several clubs taking interest in him. The likes of Arsenal, Brighton, and Atletico Madrid are all closely monitoring his progress.
Recently, Tottenham had scouts in attendance to watch the 19-year-old in action against SL Benfica. He played the full 90 minutes in the goalless draw between Porto and Benfica before the October international break.
Despite only signing him in July, Porto are open to listening to offers for Froholdt as they sense a great opportunity to make a huge profit on the player following his rapid rise in reputation. The report adds the Dragons hope to secure a fee in the region of €50-60 million, a figure they believe reflects both his current ability and future potential.

Spurs must make a January bid for Froholdt
In recent years, Tottenham have focused on recruiting exciting, young and dynamic talent who can not only make an impact in the team straightaway but also be a valuable long-term asset. Froholdt, at 19, falls in that category, and it is easy to see why the north Londoners have kept tabs on his progress after missing out in the summer.
The six-cap Denmark international would add more physicality, energy and technicality in Tottenham’s midfield, whilst being a potential replacement for Bissouma, who is out of contract at the end of the season. As Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are set to head to the AFCON in mid-December, no wonder Frank has prioritised the signing of a central midfielder in January.
Spurs will certainly face strong competition for the signing of the 19-year-old Scandinavian talent in the winter window. It will be interesting to see whether we test Porto’s resolve for Froholdt in the New Year.
