Tottenham backed to hold talks with Rangers over Mikey Moore after the appointment of Russell Martin’s replacement
Mikey Moore is one of the highly-regarded talents having emerged from the Tottenham Hotspur academy.
Viewed as the future of the club, Mikey Moore enjoyed his breakthrough campaign last season under Ange Postecoglou, registering a goal and two assists in 21 games across all competitions. A bad virus affected him badly, and after taking months to recover from it, he returned to action but barely got any minutes in the first team.
With Thomas Frank replacing Ange Postecoglou at the club’s helm in June, the Lilywhites decided to loan the teenager out to Rangers. However, the winger’s time at Rangers has not gone quite to plan. Moore struggled to become a regular under Russell Martin, who was sacked earlier this month after overseeing a disastrous start to the season that included a solitary win in seven league games.

Tottenham expected to hold talks with Rangers over Moore
Rangers are yet to appoint Russell Martin’s replacement amid rumours of Steven Gerrard’s return. However, Gerrard ruled himself out of the running for the job. The Gers are continuing their hunt for a new manager and have held early discussions with Kevin Muscat, who is currently in charge of Chinese side Shanghai Port.
The ongoing managerial situation has left Moore somewhat in limbo as his Rangers loan has yet to take off. There has even been talk of Spurs recalling their academy starlet from his Rangers loan spell in January. As per recent reports, Tottenham have no “immediate plans” to recall Moore in January.
With Kevin Muscat emerging as the favourites to land the vacant job at the Ibrox, reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham expects the north Londoners to hold talks with the Scottish club chiefs over Moore’s future after the new boss is appointed.
“He’s in a difficult environment, make no mistake about that at the moment, but he has still made 10 appearances,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He’s still got an assist. You don’t see many 18-year-olds playing every week for Rangers. Yes, their fans might be giving him a hard time, but Tottenham will be seeing this all as development of Moore’s character.
“Challenges that come with football are not always plain sailing. It’s not always easy. Many of our own players have had difficult times and then come out of it stronger and better at the other end.
“For now, I’m sure it’ll be business as usual, and they’ll wait to have those conversations with whoever the new manager is.”

Moore enjoying life on international duty
Moore has been having a great time on international duty away from Rangers. The Tottenham loanee netted his first hat-trick for England Under-19s against Belgium in Marbella last week. He continued his good form with a goal against Wales on Tuesday afternoon.
The teenager came off the bench and made an immediate by getting his name on the scoresheet, as England Under-19s enjoyed a big 7-0 win over neighbours Wales at La Quinta Football Centre. By doing so, Moore took his October international break goals tally to four goals.
Starring on England duty would have been a breath of fresh air for Moore after his struggles at Rangers. The goals against Belgium and Wales would enormously boost the attacker’s confidence ahead of his return to the Ibrox as he looks to impress the new manager and quickly get on his good books.
