Tottenham Hotspur set-piece coach Andreas Georgson feels Thomas Frank is a world-class manager and spreads positive energy
Tottenham Hotspur appointed Thomas Frank as their new head coach in June until 2028. The Dane replaced Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked despite leading Spurs to victory in the Europa League final in May.
While announcing Thomas Frank’s arrival, the north London club also confirmed that he will be joined in the dugout by Andreas Georgson. A set-piece expert, Andreas Georgson is among several members who have formed the backroom staff under Thomas Frank, and their contributions have been invaluable thus far in helping Tottenham enjoy a great start to the season.
Indeed, Spurs are third in the Premier League table and bounced back to winning ways by beating Leeds United 2-1 before the October international break. They are undefeated in their last seven games, have advanced to the Carabao Cup fourth round and have picked up four points from a possible six in the Champions League.

Andreas Georgson calls Thomas Frank “world-class” manager
It is clear to see the impact Frank has made in a short span of time at Tottenham. When compared to last season, Spurs look a totally transformed unit. There are structures being put in place, and even though these are early days into the Dane’s reign, the signs are extremely positive.
The 51-year-old tactician has showcased impressive tactical flexibility and in-game management so far, adapting his approach to suit different opponents and circumstances — a refreshing sight for fans who had grown tired of the back and forth football under Ange Postecoglou. There is also balance to the Spurs side, something they lacked for much of Postecoglou’s tenure.
And Andreas Georgson has played a chief role in helping Frank implement the structures and principles in both defence and attack. Being a set-piece coach, the Dane has not only improved Tottenham’s defending from dead-ball situations, but also made them a threat when corners and set-plays.
In a Q&A session with fans on Reddit (h/t Tottenham official website), Georgson was asked what it is like working with Frank. Our assistant coach replied:
“It’s a dream! He’s a very good leader overall – good values, spreads very positive energy, and has very clear roles and responsibilities. And on top of that he’s a very competent, world-class manager.”

Frank will be a success at Spurs
Georgson previously worked under Frank in 2020 at Brentford before making the move across London to Arsenal to work alongside Mikel Arteta. In 2021, he opted to leave Arsenal and later held roles at Malmo, Southampton and Manchester United. The 43-year-old has got enough expertise and experience of working alongside Frank in the Premier League, and that reflects on the duo’s way of thinking.
As far as Frank is concerned, the fans will be very happy with what they’ve seen in the opening months of the new season. He has given Spurs an ideal start in each of the competitions they’ve participated in thus far, thereby, silencing his critics. It is just the beginning of his tenure in north London, and while rough patches will come in the way and test the supporters’ patience, we must believe in Frank and support him through thick and thin.
