Jamie O’Hara tips Tottenham to break the bank for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in 2026
Tottenham Hotspur have surprised many with the kind of start they have enjoyed to the new season under new boss Thomas Frank. Following the 2-1 win over Leeds United before October’s international break, they moved to third in the table and currently sit just two points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Having already exceeded early expectations, Spurs continue to compete strongly on all four fronts as they look to build on last season’s Europa League success. However, despite their impressive start, there remain certain glaring issues that Thomas Frank must address in the winter transfer window. Chief among them is the lack of a dangerous left-winger.
At present, Thomas Frank is heavily reliant on summer signing Mohammed Kudus for creativity and flair. The Ghanaian has been providing that, and it is no surprise why majority of Spurs’ attacks have been happening from the right flank. But equal penetration and threat from the opposite flank has not been seen, with neither Wilson Odobert nor Brennan Johnson doing enough to lock down a spot in the XI.

TalkSPORT pundit backs Tottenham to go all out
It comes as little surprise, then, that Tottenham are actively exploring options for a potent left-winger as they seek to close the gap on their Premier League rivals. It has become a priority position, and as per recent reports, the Lilywhites have set their sights on Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.
Spurs were heavily linked with a move for Antoine Semenyo in the past summer transfer window. A move did not materialise, but the winger has continued his electric form at Bournemouth. He has registered six goals and three assists already in just seven Premier League outings, becoming a coveted commodity in the Premier League ahead of the winter window.
The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all vying for the Ghana international’s signature. It appears unlikely that the Cherries would sanction their talisman’s sale midway through the campaign unless their £70m asking price is met. Hope of signing Semenyo for the aforementioned clubs have been boosted after it was recently revealed that he has a release clause in his contract.
Spurs, lately boosted by majority owners ENIC’s £100 million cash injection, has been urged by former midfielder Jamie O’Hara to splash the cash on Semenyo next year.
“I’d love him at Spurs. I think they should go all out for him,” Jamie O’Hara said on TalkSPORT.
“When they come out and talk about an injection of £100m into Spurs. I think Spurs is an amazing club for him, a massive football club, a brilliant stadium and amazing facilities.”
Semenyo could take Tottenham’s attack to a different level
Semenyo has established himself as one of the potent wingers in the last couple of years in the Premier League. He has gone from strength to strength at Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola’s coaching, adding more consistency and productivity to his game. And Tottenham could benefit from his output, whilst potentially enjoying the best years of his career.
Semenyo and Kudus are teammates at Ghana and the duo could form a lethal duo in the final third for Tottenham. They’d complement each other with their pace, dynamism, physicality and finishing ability, elevating the quality of the Lilywhites’ attacking unit. That said, Frank must push the Hotspur Way chiefs to flex their financial muscle and go all out for the Bournemouth ace in January.
