Tottenham are seeking a replacement for Yves Bissouma in the January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma was heavily linked with an exit in the past summer transfer window.

The Malian international has not been able to live up to the expectations at White Hart Lane since his move from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2022. Plagued with inconsistency, injury problems and off-field issues, he has made just 100 appearances for Spurs thus far. The north Londoners would have expected a lot more from him when they signed the player.

Tottenham were very much open to offloading Yves Bissouma in the summer. The tough-tackling midfielder was close to joining Fenerbahce in the summer, only for a move to collapse in the end due to his knee injury. Yet, Tottenham tried their best to offload the 29-year-old after the transfer window slammed shut for major European leagues, but to no avail.

Tottenham eyeing Yves Bissouma replacement in January

Bissouma has been unlucky with injuries this season. He was sidelined with a knee injury until the start of this month. The midfielder, after overcoming his knee problem, was named in the Mali squad for the World Cup qualifier against Madagascar.

Moments after coming on the pitch as a substitute in the second half, the Tottenham man was hacked down by a Madagascar player and he sustained an ankle injury. Unable to walk, he was stretchered off the pitch six minutes after the incident. Luckily, Bissouma has not suffered a serious injury and will only spend a few weeks on the sidelines.

This was a positive piece of news for Tottenham that Bissouma could be back by the first week of November as they want to move him on in January. According to a report from Football Insider, Spurs are already looking for the Mali enforcer’s replacement. His deal runs out at the end of the season, but the Lilywhites want to offload him in the winter window and get a quality replacement.

Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin wanted by Tottenham

Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin on Tottenham’s radar

Spurs have recently added Rangers star Nico Raskin in their midfield shortlist. The Belgian has been turning heads for a long time in Scotland. The box-to-box midfielder is not just impressing in the Scottish Premiership but has also stood out for Belgium in the recent international break, and this has seemingly attracted Tottenham’s attention.

A combative, industrious and agile midfielder, Raskin would be an excellent potential long-term replacement for Bissouma. Rangers could demand £20m-£25m for the 24-year-old, which would make him a record sale for the Glasgow giants. The ex-Standard Liege man’s best years are clearly ahead of him and he’d be a strong addition to Thomas Frank’s squad.

That said, Tottenham must definitely test Rangers’ resolve for Raskin in the New Year.
