Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank is looking forward to facing Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on Sunday
Tottenham Hotspur welcome Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday afternoon as they look to secure back-to-back wins in the Premier League.
Spurs managed to earn a hard-fought 2-1 win over Leeds United before the international break, returning back to winning ways after consecutive draws in the Premier League against Brighton and Wolves. This means Thomas Frank’s side are on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions heading into Sunday’s mouthwatering fixture.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, will be no pushover, as Unai Emery’s side aim to secure a big win over third-placed Tottenham to continue their recent good form, having won their last two Premier League fixtures. The Villans failed to score in their opening four league fixtures but have found their mojo lately.
Thomas Frank looking forward to Aston Villa challenge
Several Tottenham players impressed while away on international duty with their respective countries, and Thomas Frank will be hoping they click as a unit against Aston Villa. Aside from Yves Bissouma, who was injured on international duty, there appear to have been no major fitness concerns that have developed during the hiatus.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Frank praised Unai Emery and his work at Villa in the last couple of years. The Dane said he is looking forward to Villa’s challenge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“We have a fantastic run of games ahead of us, starting with Villa on Sunday,” Frank was quoted by Football London.
“What Unai has done in his career is amazing, what he’s created at Villa is fantastic. They almost qualified for the Champions League again.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
Randal Kolo Muani could be back for Villa clash
While some might argue that the international break came at a wrong time for the north Londoners, it may have worked in Frank’s favour. The short break allowed the Danish tactician to evaluate the squad, make tactical adjustments and address the lingering issues. It also gave an opportunity for some injured players to recover, including Randal Kolo Muani.
Randal Kolo Muani has played just 13 minutes in a Spurs shirt, which came in the Champions League against Villarreal last month. Since then, he’s been out with a dead leg. The positive update is that the Frenchman has trained well in the last couple of weeks and featured for 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors encounter with Watford. So, our gaffer looks set to have a new attacking weapon at his disposal for the Villa clash.
