Tottenham Hotspur call 14-year-old Mikel Jack to train with Thomas Frank’s senior squad
Tottenham Hotspur have taken a commendable step in nurturing their academy prospects by summoning 14-year-old goalkeeper Mikel Jack to train with the senior squad ahead of the fixture against Aston Villa.
Jack, who signed his scholarship at the Under-14 level and currently represents England at Under-15 level, demonstrated remarkable poise during the session. He earned accolades from established pros as was seen in the club’s training video via X [formerly Twitter].
While the first team is still atleast three-four years out from this point, it all would come as a great learning experience for Jack, who has three appearances at the U15 level for England; two of which were clean sheet displays.
Well in, Mikel!
The goalkeeping situation at Tottenham is quite peculiar. For as good as Guglielmo Vicario is in terms of shot-stopping, his performances have often let us down, especially when it comes to the defending of set-pieces. 22-year-old Antonin Kinsky, despite a solid start to his career under Ange Postecoglou, has struggled this season.
There have been talks of a new goalie, but the rumour mill keeps producing for the general public to keep wondering. Let’s see how things go until the January window, but hopefully, that’s not too late to take a call on whether or not we’d need a new keeper.
That aside, it is very overwhelming to see youngsters grab the opportunities coming their way and making the most of it. While it is just training at the end of the day, it is the experience of it, and the people in it that make it memorable. Jack, like everyone his age, would hope to extract as much and then apply it to their game to take it to the next level.

Other notable names from the Youth Setup that will make it big in the future include the likes of Will Lankshear, Jamie Donley, Luca Williams-Barnett among others. Hopefully, these kids make it to well beyond their potential. Come On You Spurs!
