Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma confirms on social media that he has undergone a successful ankle surgery

Injuries are starting to pile up for Tottenham Hotspur of late.

Dominic Solanke underwent a minor ankle surgery earlier this month and there is no timescale on his return. In yet another concern for Thomas Frank, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie have suffered injuries after coming back from October international break and missed matches against both Aston Villa and AS Monaco.

Veteran defender Ben Davies suffered a hamstring injury on international duty and has been ruled out for weeks, decimating the Lilywhites’ defensive unit further. Injuries to Romero, Udogie and Davies saw young Archie Gray make his first start in the Champions League in midweek in the 0-0 draw with AS Monaco. Wilson Odobert also sustained a back injury and was forced off the pitch against Monaco. That isn’t the end of the bad news, though.

Yves Bissouma was stretchered off while representing Mali over the international break on his return from injury. The midfielder entered the fray in the 66th minute against Madagascar in a World Cup qualifier, and within moments, he suffered a bad tackle.

As per recent reports, Yves Bissouma was expected to be sidelined for weeks rather than months with an ankle injury. But, the latest update could keep him out for longer.

Bissouma has revealed that he has undergone surgery on his injured left ankle. The African star took to Instagram to share a picture of himself post-surgery, and confirmed that “everything went well.” The ankle surgery further plunges his Tottenham future into doubt, having already entered the final 10 months of his contract.

Due to disciplinary issues and a knee injury, he is yet to make an appearance for Tottenham this season, and we won’t be seeing him in action for the foreseeable future after going under the knife. There is no firm timeframe on how long Bissouma might be sidelined for, but the combative midfielder will almost certainly sit out fixtures against Everton, Newcastle United, Chelsea, FC Copenhagen and Manchester United before the November international break.

Bissouma is done at Tottenham

Bissouma sustaining an ankle injury on international duty and now undergoing surgery could easily represent the final nail in the coffin as far as his time at Tottenham is concerned. He is out of contract in June 2026, and any little chance of him earning a fresh deal has been evaporated following the latest setback.

If Bissouma recovers swiftly, he’d get a call up to the Mali squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in December. Should the Malian international goes to the Africa Cup of Nations, performs well and keeps himself fit, Tottenham’s hopes of offloading him in the January transfer window would increase.
