Kevin Danso credits Guglielmo Vicario for saving Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton
That 3–0 win against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium was always going to be a sketchy game for Tottenham Hotspur going away. But the Lilywhites away from under Thomas Frank have been fantastic, and the performance vs Spurs exactly showed the whys of it.
Not only did the North Londoners write history by becoming the first away team to get a win at Everton’s new home (Hill Dickinson stadium). But they did it with a clear statement of intent.
Danso praises Vicario for his performance vs Everton

It was a game about set pieces. Ones that went in and counted and ones that didn’t. While Tottenham saw how Micky van de Ven rose to a couple of them for a first-half brace, David Moyes’ side had one of their own which was ruled out with Everton’s Ndiaye in an offside position whilst holding off Vicario.
This was a game which has earned quite some plaudits for Micky van de Ven.
But his defensive partner, Kevin Danso, was quick to point out another Tottenham star who enjoyed another impressive display. Speaking after the game (via BBC), the 27-year-old Austrian international said:
“Even in midweek, the keeper saved us. He gave us a clean sheet away and another today. It’s fantastic, and I am really happy to be part of this team.”

And he is not wrong. Vicario was quite on the money against the Blues last weekend. He recorded a 0.96 goal prevented from Sofa Score, which shows how important his saves came through. It is a recognition that is due for the Lilywhites keeper. In a game where the scoreline suggests that Tottenham sailed over the opponents, for Danso to admit how Vicario saved Tottenham twice shows how the game was far closer than it looks.
TTLB Opinion
Vicario was under the spotlight quite a bit just a few weeks back. Many Tottenham fans were ready to bring a new keeper to the roster after his faltering performances. But he has taken that on his chin and shown his quality time and again in the past week.
He was quite vital in that all-nil draw against Monaco. And yesterday again he delivered the goods with those saves.
And yes, those goals from van de Ven were brilliant, and he deserves all the headlines that he is getting. But this win was built on the back of a clean sheet. And this is the kind of base that silverware competing sides rest on. And those words by Danso show that.
