Kevin Danso continues to be an asset for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have been dealing with injury concerns surrounding Cristian Romero of late. And this has handed Kevin Danso an opportunity to showcase his abilities, donning the Lilywhites badge.
The Austrian has grabbed this opportunity with both hands. If we go back to the North Londoners win over Everton at the weekend, Danso had a strong performance at the back.
And his efforts have not gone unnoticed by pundits. With former Tottenham midfielder turned analyst Jamie Redknapp leading the voice to praise the 27-year-old.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said:
“When you look at the current market, £20 million from Lens is not that expensive. You know he is quick, he is aggressive, and he is coming in not always going to start games; it depends on whether you want to play a back three.
“Obviously, you have got three really strong centre-backs, but he just adds so much to your team. Looks like a really solid season.”
Is Danso a bargain?

When you look at the fee around his transfer and compare that with the performance that he has been putting in, he has been phenomenal. At that price, coming in and putting in a shift earns comparisons to Jan Vertonghen.
He has to be one of those underrated Daniel Levy signings that takes some time to settle into the side. But once they start finding their feet, their quality shines through. And Danso is one of them.
If we start looking at the stats behind his performances, he cleared 18 balls in the game against the Toffees. It is the most that any Lilywhites player has done in a Premier League game since 2016. And alongside those clearances, he won all six of his duels and committed no fouls.
TTLB Opinion
Playing alongside Van de Ven, you could see a settled defence. The most that I can write about his display is, you couldn’t feel Romero’s absence in the game for a second. And given the Argentine’s ability and his stand as one of the best defenders in the English top tier, it says a lot about the kind of outing Danso had.
Tottenham have been craving strong depth in the defence for a while now, and having someone like Danso besides Romero can do a lot of good for Thomas Frank. Especially when the season comes to its intense times, the Dane head coach can also use Danso to rest Romero and still be assured of the defence and of the fact that his structure would be maintained.
And if Danso were to maintain his level, he would be among the bargains of this season.
