“Two players rolled into one”- Summer signing draws comparisons to Tottenham cult hero; ‘dangerous’ abilities starting to show

Mohammed Kudus is enjoying life under Thomas Frank this season amid comparisons to Moussa Dembele

Tottenham summer signing Mohammed Kudus has quickly become a fan favourite at N17 after a blistering start to life under Thomas Frank. The Ghana international has injected energy and creativity into Spurs’ attack, consistently creating chances and making the Lilywhites a far more dangerous side going forward this season. He is currently enjoying one of the best spells of his career, already registering five goal contributions this campaign.

The 25-year-old has cemented his place as one of the first names on Thomas Frank’s team sheet, underlining his growing importance within the squad. It’s fair to say that Spurs have come to rely heavily on him, particularly when results begin to turn. More often than not, Kudus has risen to the occasion, delivering in crucial moments and helping his side turn games around.

His standout performance so far came in the victory over Leeds United earlier this month, where he produced a goal and an assist to help Tottenham secure all three points away from home. The Ghanaian was simply unplayable on the day, combining flair, precision, and determination. Under Frank’s guidance, Kudus continues to refine his game and is beginning to showcase the immense potential that made him such a sought-after talent.

Mohammed Kudus has similar traits to Tottenham icon Mousa Dembele

Tottenham fans are well aware of Mousa Dembele’s qualities on and off the ball. The Belgian was hard to play against, often anchoring the midfield for the Lilywhites all by himself during his heydays. He achieved a ‘cult-hero’ status at N17 for his consistent performances during his seven-year stint at the North London club. And many still believe he could have thrived in the Premier League today had he continued playing.

Now, however, the Spurs faithful have found their own version of Dembele under Thomas Frank in Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian has similar traits like the former Tottenham man, all while offering an added attacking threat. Speaking to Tottenham News, John Wenham said,

“Kudus is like having two players rolled into one. On one hand, he’s this tricky, skilful right-winger that gets loads of goals and assists. On the other hand, he’s like a massively powerful central midfield player.”

The Lilywhite Rose owner added,

“He’s the closest equivalent we’ve had to Mousa Dembele, in terms of the strength that he’s got and the way he holds players off, although they’re completely different players. Having those two abilities in one player is very, very dangerous.”

Wenham’s comparison highlights Kudus’ rare blend of attacking flair and physical dominance. The 25-year-old combines the instincts of a winger with the composure and control of a central midfielder. His ability to shield the ball, maintain balance under pressure, and beat opponents one-on-one evokes memories of Mousa Dembele’s prime years at Tottenham.

Such high praise reflects the growing excitement around Kudus’ potential. While he still has a long way to go before matching Dembele’s iconic status at N17, it is clear to see that the Ghanaian is on the right trajectory. If he continues his current form and maintains consistency under Thomas Frank, he could soon write his own chapter in Tottenham’s modern history.
