Tottenham keen on £22 million rival PL star; January move a no-go

Brentford will not entertain any offers from Tottenham Hotspur for Kevin Schade in January

Tottenham target Kevin Schade has been in impressive form this season. The 23-year-old forward has scored two goals for Brentford in the Premier League this season, drawing attention from other top clubs in the league. The German attacker found the net in Brentford’s memorable 3-2 win against Liverpool this season, further boosting his stock. Tottenham and Aston Villa have been closely monitoring Schade over the past months. However, as per sources, it is believed the Bees intend to hold onto their star forward.

Schade initially arrived at Brentford on loan from Bundesliga side SC Freiburg in 2023. He later made the switch on a permanent basis in the same year for a fee of £22 million. Schade’s attacking instincts and ability to run in behind defenses instantly impressed the Bees.

The Brentford squad was depleted in the summer transfer window, with key players like Ryan Mbuemmo and Wissa departing the club. Brentford’s former manager, Thomas Frank, bid farewell to the club and took charge of Tottenham Hotspur before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

After finishing 10th last season, the Bees have endured an underwhelming start to the new campaign, currently sitting in the bottom half of the table and struggling to find their rhythm.

Brentford will not entertain any offers from Tottenham Hotspur for Kevin Schade in January.

The Bees are now seeking damage limitation and are intending to hold off potential suitors for Schade. Speaking about the situation, one Graeme Bailey (h/t TBR Football) stated:

“Schade is really looking the part now, and Brentford are aware of potential suitors taking an interest.”

“However, I am told from Brentford sources that they will not entertain his exit come January, indeed the same goes for others in the squad too, including Igor Thiago and Nathan Collins.”

Thomas Frank connection to be rekindled?

Kevin Schade flourished under the guidance of former manager Thomas Frank, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in 74 appearances for the Bees. Considering Schade’s impressive form this season, Frank would likely have to pay far more than the £22 million he spent to sign him during his time at Brentford. With Dominic Solanke and Richarlison frequently facing injury setbacks, Spurs might soon be in the market for a new attacker and will keep an eye on Schade’s progress.
