Real Betis have made an unsuccessful opening bid of €25m for Tottenham Hotspur target Rayan
Spanish club Real Betis has made a €25m bid to sign 19-year-old Spurs target Rayan from Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama. The attacker has scored 11 goals in the Serie A this season, which has put him on the radar of several clubs from across Europe. However, Vasco is determined to keep Rayan at the club, wants to increase his release clause to €70m by offering him a contract extension.
As per NTV via X, Vasco’s board rejected Betis’ offer, as the club values their star player to be worth above €40m. Rayan has cemented his starting position at Vasco this season. His situation is being monitored by other Premier League clubs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester United as well. Spanish giants Barcelona are also believed to be an interested party in potentially acquiring the sensation. His current contract at Vasco is set to expire in December next year, but renewal talks have already begun, potentially keeping him at the club till 2028. It would not be a surprise if a bidding for Rayan takes place when the transfer window reopens.
Rayan remarkably scored 29 goals in 34 matches for Vasco’s under-17 side in 2022. At the international level, Rayan has represented Brazil’s under-17 team, scoring twice against Chile and Paraguay in 2022. He also helped Brazil win the South American U-20 Championship this year. His talents were on full display once again in Vasco’s 2-0 victory over Fortaleza in October, as he showcased remarkable composure by dribbling the ball from the halfway line into the opposition’s box before unleashing a powerful shot into the bottom-left corner to get on the scoresheet.
Created Vasco history
2023 marked the breakout year for 16-year-old Rayan, who became the youngest player to feature for Vasco da Gama’s senior team in the 21st century during a 1-1 draw against Audax in the Campeonato Carioca. Later, he created history again by becoming Vasco’s youngest ever goal scorer after scoring against Internacional in June.
In 2024, Rayan gained valuable experience, as he regularly came off the bench and impacted matches throughout the season. His red-hot form in 2025 has established him as one of the most promising talents to come through the club’s rankings. Rayan has developed great chemistry with playmaker, Philippe Coutinho, who rejoined the side last year.

Spurs are currently believed to be the frontrunners for the 19-year-old’s signature. The English side wants to strengthen its attacking options and is rumoured to make a move for the Brazilian in the upcoming winter transfer window. However, they are set to receive strong competition from other potential suitors.
