Is sidelined Tottenham star ready to call in quits in January? Tottenham eyeing contingencies

Dominic Solanke is not keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window

Dominic Solanke’s future at Tottenham is under increasing scrutiny ahead of the January transfer window. While speculation mounts about a potential exit, sources close to the club insist that the striker does not want to leave instead, he is determined to fight for his place under head coach Thomas Frank. Having joined Spurs from AFC Bournemouth in August 2024 on a long-term deal, Solanke has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form

According to the Inside Track Podcast, the club appear willing to give him time, but only if progress is made. The next few months are critical for Solanke to demonstrate his fitness and impact, or else the January window or summer 2026 could bring a different outcome.

However, sources close to the club suggest that Tottenham have begun lining up striker replacements, aware that his fitness struggles and lack of minutes could force their hand later this season.

Solanke’s Mindset: Staying, Not Leaving

Insiders claim Thomas Frank has yet to be fully convinced by Solanke, with whispers that the manager is “not his biggest fan.” Still, Frank recognises the need for squad depth and plans to monitor the striker’s progress before committing to any decision.

Solanke has not featured since Tottenham’s 2–0 win over Manchester City on August 23, with injuries hampering his rhythm and confidence. His absence also coincided with the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, brought in to add competition up front.

For now, Tottenham plans to reassess Solanke’s situation at the end of the season. Club sources believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt, given his injury setbacks and limited opportunities to impress.

If he can return to match fitness and rediscover his form, Spurs may opt to keep faith with him beyond the summer. But if struggles persist, the club could pivot towards new attacking reinforcements — with one high-profile name already under discussion.

Contingency Plans: Eyes on Dusan Vlahovic

Dominic Solanke is not keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

Should Solanke’s recovery stall, Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as a possible long-term replacement.

“Spurs are the team that I’m hearing he’s leaning towards, and I think that could be something that makes sense

“If you look at what Spurs have got right now, there’s still that sort of striker position where they are lacking real experience. I think he might be the right sort of fit for them.

“There’s a long time to go yet, but I think in terms of January, it could possibly get done. Vlahovic is edging towards Spurs, and that’s where I’m thinking he may just fit.”

Vlahovic’s blend of strength, aerial power, and clinical finishing makes him an ideal fit for Thomas Frank’s tactical setup. The Serbian international remains on Spurs’ radar, though any formal move would likely depend on Solanke’s progress in the coming months.

For now, Dominic Solanke remains focused on recovery and proving his worth at Tottenham. The club, while cautious, is prepared to give him time, but the next few months could be decisive.

If Solanke returns firing, Spurs could save themselves a striker search. If not, the January or summer window may mark the start of a new chapter for both player and club.
