Tottenham Hotspur’s Destiny Udogie was threatened with a gun by a football agent
Tottenham Hotspur left back Destiny Udogie was reportedly targeted in a gun threat incident in September on the streets of London. Udogie featured in Tottenham’s 4-0 win against Copenhagen. The club is believed to be providing continued support to the 22-year-old since the incident took place.
Udogie was walking along Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, with a friend when a football agent, allegedly in possession of a firearm, made unprovoked threats towards him and his companion. The agent’s name has not been disclosed publicly due to legal reasons. He was arrested by the Police on suspicion of possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence. Additionally, the agent is under investigation for allegations of blackmail, threats, and driving without a license. It is believed that the agent represents other top footballers worldwide. The agent has not been charged with any offense to date and was released on bail on September 9, 2025.
The incident took place on September 6 at around 11:14 pm. The official statement from the Police on the incident read (h/t The Metro):
“Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident.”
“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday 8 September on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a license. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
The shocking incident has put the club on high alert, with the player’s well-being now Tottenham’s top priority. A spokesperson from Spurs stated:
“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

Bright career ahead for Destiny Udogie?
Udogie is undoubtedly one of the most promising young talents on Spurs’ roster. The Lilywhites signed the Italian defender from Udinese in 2022, but he was loaned back to the Serie A club for the 2022-23 season. After arriving in 2023, he instantly impressed with his defensive prowess and unmatched energy on the field. He signed a new long-term deal in 2023, potentially keeping him at the club until 2030. The Italian has registered 2 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League for Spurs to date.
Udogie has also shown great mental fortitude, as he continued to feature regularly for Tottenham in spite of being involved in such a disturbing incident.
