Paul Miller throws his weight in behind Thomas Miller at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur legend Paul Miller recently discussed the club’s evolution, as they have begun a new era under Thomas Frank’s leadership. He praised the legacy of former executive chairman, Daniel Levy, who stepped down from his position in September, and also praised the defensive partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Miller is widely regarded as one of the greatest centre-backs in Tottenham’s history. He spent a decade at the club and led his team to two FA Cups (1981, 1982) and the UEFA Cup in 1984. The 66-year-old is seen as a role model by the current new generation of players at the club. Miller has maintained a close connection with his former club to date.

Speaking exclusively with SportsBoom, Miller reminisced about his time at the club and praised the overall evolution of the club since his playing days, stating (h/t SportsBoom):
“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. We had some difficult periods in the late ’80s and ’90s with ownership issues and poor management that really held the club back. But Daniel Levy has done a fantastic job turning things around.”
“He’s built what I believe is the best stadium in the world, along with a magnificent training ground, and now we’ve got a fantastic manager in Thomas Frank. Winning the Europa League last season was a massive achievement, it lifted everyone at the club and gave us that push to compete in the Champions League.”
The decorated defender believes that there is still room for improvement in the current squad, and emphasized the need to bring in a new No.9. He said:
“There’s still work to do, every club needs to strengthen. I think we could use another striker, but overall, Tottenham is in a very good place right now.”
Speaking about Tottenham’s transition from former coach Ange Postecoglou to Thomas Frank, he said:
“Ange was an excellent coach. He had a clear attacking philosophy and brought us silverware, which we’ll always be grateful for. But I think the timing was right for a change. Thomas Frank is a very intelligent and detailed coach. He’s already making a positive impact. We’re more balanced now, both tactically and mentally. There’s a real sense of belief in the squad, and you can see the players are buying into his methods.
“If we can add a few more players in January, I think we can compete for another trophy this season. The team looks confident, and the atmosphere around the club is really positive.”
Exciting times ahead for the Lilywhites?
Spurs have seen a significant improvement in their performance this season under the new manager. They are currently 6th in the Premier League and remain unbeaten in the Champions League this season after their dominant 4-0 win against Danish outfit Copenhagen.
The team had received heavy criticism after showcasing a poor performance against bitter rivals Chelsea at the weekend in their 1-0 defeat at home. Spurs failed to create chances, registering just one shot on target throughout 90 minutes. They registered an expected goals (xG) figure of just 0.05, the lowest since the Premier League began recording such stats in 2012-13.
However, with their impressive performance during midweek, they returned to winning ways and silenced the doubters. They are now set to face Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG in consecutive matches. Their 4-0 win will surely serve as a confidence boost in the upcoming games.
