Tottenham Hotspur must fork out atleast €18 million to land Sevilla star Ruben Vargas

Tottenham has struggled with consistency so far this season. After taking charge of the club before the start of the new campaign, Thomas Frank managed to fill several gaps in the Spurs squad, but mounting injuries have taken a toll. Several key attackers, including Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski, are currently sidelined with injuries.

Even though Spurs showcased a rampant attacking display in their 4-0 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League, they struggled against Chelsea last weekend, failing to create chances and registering just one shot on target over 90 minutes. After addressing Spurs’ defensive issues from last season, Thomas Frank will likely turn his focus toward strengthening their attack in the coming months.

Spurs are believed to be on the hunt for a new attacker once the winter transfer window opens. One of the players closely monitored by the club is Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas. The Swiss winger joined Sevilla from FC Augsburg this year and instantly became a regular starter in the team. He has been in terrific form in the LaLiga this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists in ten appearances. The 27-year-old is currently contracted to the club till 2029 and has a valid release clause in place.

Vargas is currently valued at €11 million as per Transfermarkt, but Sevilla will demand a higher fee if they were to let their star player leave the club mid-season. According to Orgullobiri Sevilla FC, the Sporting Directorate of Sevilla has made it clear that the club would only accept an offer above the threshold of €18 million, and any bid around the €11 million mark will be instantly rejected. It is understood that the Spanish outfit is yet to receive a formal offer for the player. Reports suggest that the player is currently focused on his job at hand in Spain.

Ruben Vargas: The final piece of the puzzle for Spurs?

After dispatching Son Heung-min to the MLS, Tottenham have failed to find a replacement of similar caliber. The left wing position has been a massive problem for Spurs this season. New signings Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, and Randal Kolo Muani have struggled to find their form.

Vargas is best known for his versatility, as he can occupy various attacking positions on the pitch. His ability to run in behind defenses, coupled with a consistent goal-scoring threat, could make him an instant hit at N17.
