Reliable journalist gives the latest update on Richarlison’s future at Tottenham amid interest from several clubs
Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a striker in the winter transfer window following their early struggles in front of goal. Thomas Frank’s pragmatic approach has not helped their cause either, but despite the Lilywhites possessing several attackers, scoring goals regularly stands as a conundrum.
As per recent reports, Thomas Frank has been in direct contact with Al Ahli striker Ivan Toney over a potential January move to White Hart Lane. The 29-year-old secured a highly lucrative career move to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2024, scoring an impressive 30 goals across 44 appearances last term for Al Ahli. Spurs are frontrunners for Toney’s signature, given the injuries to Dominic Solanke and the poor form of Richarlison which have left their attack toothless.
Speaking about Richarlison, he was heavily linked with a summer exit from Tottenham. For some reason or the other, the centre-forward ended up staying at the club. As Solanke was struggling with an ankle problem, Thomas Frank had no other option but to give Richarlison a new lease of life. And the Brazilian international grabbed the opportunity with both hands, starting the campaign with a brace against Burnley on the opening weekend.
Since that double in the win over Burnley, Richarlison has scored just once in the Premier League and that was a scrappy goal in the 2-2 draw with Brighton in September. This has led to rumours surrounding the 28-year-old’s Tottenham future intensifying in the last couple of weeks.

Journalist provides latest update on Richarlison’s future at N17
Richarlison’s selection in the Brazil squad has also come under questioning. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has backed the forward despite his poor Tottenham form, but journalist Lucas Musetti criticised his recent call-up to the national team for the upcoming games.
Amid recent speculation, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has now provided the latest update on Richarlison’s future. He claims there are clubs keen to sign the South American star, but a summer move looks more feasible rather than a January transfer.
“There is interest in Richarlison — he decided not to leave last summer, as he focused on game time for Tottenham and winning his spot in the Brazilian squad,” Graeme Bailey has revealed.
“Thomas Frank likes the player and he has five goal contributions in five league starts — showing he is capable of operating in Frank’s style.
“Tottenham are looking at new strikers, but whether it happens in January remains to be seen. We believe the left wing and centre-back positions to be priorities at this point, but very much next summer [they could sign a striker].”
It is understood Spurs are keen for Solanke to return after recovering from an ankle surgery to bolster their firepower. In what shape the England international returns and whether he manages to hit form quickly could have a bearing on Richarlison’s future.
“As it stands, Tottenham are not convinced by their current options, both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke, and we are yet to see if Randal Kolo Muani will be their answer. But I am told Tottenham are still in that place of assessing their squad and the forward line is a big part of that,” he added.

Tottenham may look to move on Richarlison if Toney is signed
Richarlison’s contract is set to expire in 2027, and it does not look like the north London club would be interested in extending his stay. The 28-year-old has royally underperformed in N17, and Spurs’ £60million investment is yet to pay off. Frank has started Randal Kolo Muani up top in the last two games, seemingly losing patience in Richarlison.
Should Tottenham manage to get Toney’s signature in January, the club may decide to move on Richarlison. The Brazilian is easily one of the worst big-money signings in the history of Spurs and the quicker we move him on the better. Everton are reportedly planning to re-sign him and the forward is ready to join David Moyes’ side.
