Tottenham are ready to make an offer for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo in January
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to address their issues in attack in the upcoming January transfer window.
Mohammed Kudus, the summer arrival from West Ham United, has been the Lilywhites’ standout attacker with a goal and four assists in 10 Premier League appearances. He has not found much help from his fellow attackers, and instead, defender Micky van de Ven has chipped in with six goals. So, it is not difficult to gauge where Spurs’ problems lie at this moment.
A new No.9 would be a welcome addition in the winter window, and Thomas Frank has reportedly held talks with Al Ahli star Ivan Toney over a possible return to the Premier League. In addition, a winger also appears to be on the club’s agenda.

Tottenham ready to make offer for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo
According to a report from Fichajes, Tottenham are prepared to offer close to €60 million for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo in January. The player is open to the idea of leaving Real Sociedad for a more ‘demanding league’ like the Premier League. The La Liga club would find it difficult to retain the 24-year-old should Spurs table a concrete proposal.
Tottenham’s interest in Takefusa Kubo is not new. They have tried to sign him several times before but it did not happen. This time around the Europa League champions look determined to land the Japanese international, who has been a consistent performer for Real Sociedad in recent seasons. The right-footed winger has registered 24 goals and 18 assists in 146 appearances thus far, catching the eye of several clubs with his trickery, burst of pace, dynamism and flair.

The Japan has been a consistent performer in La Liga and could provide Spurs with the creativity and end product they currently lack in the final third. He has the qualities to step straight into Tottenham’s system. The former Real Madrid man’s ability to create chances and chip in with goals in both La Liga and the European competitions makes him an attractive option for Spurs, who are desperate to add more cutting edge in the attacking third.
Apart from Kubo’s ability as a player, the commercial appeal of signing him from Sociedad is quite apparent. For over a decade, the north Londoners greatly benefited from having a shining star like Son Heung-min in their ranks, and the signing of Kubo would help them tap into the South Asian market once again. While Sociedad are reluctant to lose one of their key players in midst of the campaign, financial pressure could open the door if Spurs present a tempting package.
That said, it will be intriguing to see whether Tottenham make a €60 million offer for the South Asian star- a figure which also matches his release clause at San Sebastian.
